I've been playing lots of old SNES lately. What an awesome system... What's your favorite SNES game?
My top 3 goes...
3. Super Mario World- all around great fun. Everything good from the NES versions, only better.
2. Donkey Kong Country- Mario only better. A classic, with excellent graphics, good sound, and very often funny.
1. Megaman X- what else? Everything about this game seems to be perfect. The story, the music is awesome, and the gameplay is just perfect for gamers who like a challenge.

SNES had some great games. The Donkey Kong country series, the Mario Worlds, Super Metroid, R-type 3, and a plethora of Japanese RPG's.
Looking back, I wish I had a SNES instead of a Genesis when I was a kid.

Oh yeah, SNES was the good ol' days revisited. I remember playing all sorts of sports games, sidescrollers, and arcade games on there. Believe it or not, I was even playing Wolf 3D and Doom on SNES. Although Doom and Wolf 3D didn't look or play as well on SNES as it does on the PC, tho, I'm quite sure a bunch of you could attest to that finding.
However, SNES did have some awesome games, I'm surprised to see how much better that system was than any of the others. One of my old friends had a Sega Genesis, and the quality most certainly did have its strong points. However, SNES' games had more character and personality to them, although most of the games made back then were usually made for both SNES and Sega, I'm not sure which system was better now.

SNES was great, but I thought genesis was better, because I loved playing Sonic & knuckles, Streets of rage 2, X-men, those were the good old days. On SNES I really liked Super mario world, Killer instincts, Aladin, DK1.

Best Snes?
Chrono Trigger
Zombies ate my Neighbours
Secret of Mana
Kirby's Dream Course
But Snes being the greatest system ever has too many great games to count.

I think there are too many great games to count for SNES. And I'm a PC gamer!! But here is a list of the super awesome games:
Chrono Trigger
Megaman X series
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Donkey Kong Series
Mario Kart
Super Metroid
NBA Jam TE
Zombies Ate My Neighborhood

I am shocked.
Absolutely shocked.
No mention of Zelda 3! Heathens. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif
But other than that, my list would be the same as Infamous', except swapping SMW for Zelda.

You are correct sir, Mother 3 (the japanese version of the game is called Mother) is due next year in Japan, and hopefully here in the US, for the Game Boy hand held system, old school.
P.S. They were making Earthbound 64, but that got cancelled a long time ago.
1. Chrono Trigger ***The 2nd Best SNES RPG***
2. Final Fantasy 3
3. Super Mario World
4. Mario All Stars (Anything with Mario 3 is great.)
5. Legends of Zelda III: A Link to Past
6. Lufia
7. Breath of Fire 2
8. Terranigma (Or Terrigama) ***The Best SNES RPG***
9. Soul Blazer
11. Harvest Moon
12. Robotrek
Basically, all of my favorite SNES games were infact, RPGs. Why? Because the SNES was the greatest RPG console ever created, and the developers made them very well.
1. Zombies Ate My Neighbors
2. Aladdin
3. TMNT - Turtles In Time

Nasicallyy any Squaresoft RPG there is. In particular:
- Final Fantasy VI (III in U.S) ... best game ever.
- Chrono Trigger.

So many choices.
If you have an emulator, I recommend these (I have most of the ROMs):
NinjaWarriors
Yoshi's Island
Mario Kart
Star Fox
Super Double Dragon <----- In the running for best game ever!
Any and every Zelda
Power Rangers: The Movie <----- Superb game despite the lisence
Final Fight 3
Street Fighter II Turbo
Virtual Bart
Donkey Kong Country (Don't bother with the sequels)
Super Mario World
EDIT: OMG I forgot Super High Impact
If you're a fan of games like NFL Blitz, find a way to play SHI. It's sort of like the original NFL Blitz, but even cooler (fistfights!).

You wont believe how happy I was to see this threat appear on the list. SNES was always the ultimate console. Old-School all the way.
My favourites
Super Mario Brothers 3
Donkey Kong Country 1,,2 & 3
Chrono-Trigger (still one of the best RPGs Ive ever played)
Yoshi Island (so underrated, definatly my favourite of all time)

Ofcourse to legally play these games from ROM files you must own the game too.
I'd say my best experiences are from Mario Kart, Killer Instinct and Super Mario 3 (from the All Star cartridge).
For some reason Super Mario World seemed too "far fetched" for my taste. All the new improvements just didn't seem like good 'ol Mario.

Contra III (What!? No love for Contra III? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif )
Smash TV (But I'm sure there are better ports of this now)
Super Metroid
Yoshi's Island
Rock'n Roll Racing
Donkey Kong Country 2
Zelda: LTTP
Mario World/ Mario All stars
Star Fox
Mario Kart (battle mode was great for its time)
Also some of the Square RPG's, like Final Fantasy 3 (AKA: 6) and Chrono Trigger. Earthbound was cool too (although not a Square game).
And was Secret of Evermore the RPG with the kid and the dog? If so, I remember playing that. I liked how you could set the dog's AI to different levels of 'search' or 'defend/ attack'.

Aladdin was really good too. Just goes to show how back then, devs knew how to make a good movie to game conversion.
Who remembers the Lion King game? I remember the 3d stampede and thinking it was so high tech.
Super Mario All Stars
Terranigma
Donkey Kong Country
Yoshi's Island
Super Mario World
Mario Kart
That's about it.. I had great fun with the above ones.
There are a couple I am missing though.. can't really remember. The SNES has to be the greatest console ever imo.

2) Super Mario All-Stars - Four Mario games in one. Can't resist. That theme is unforgettable....
3) Donkey Kong Country - Innovative platform for its time and brimming with character and comedy. Had some great graphics for its time too.
4) Zelda: A Link to the Past - Great storyline, great challenge, yet another Link masterpiece.
5) Killer Instinct - Probably occupied more of my time than most of the above, and was incredibly enjoyable for its time. Perfect 2D fragfest and another great game by Rare Studios.

Incorrect ToP and StarOcean are the biggest ROMS for the SNES.
Metroid doesn't come even close to ToP and StarOcean in size.
Mind you these title where only avilible in japan, but they have sold more then enough copys to prove that there good games, in fact StarOcean and the Tales series where contenued to PSX and PS2 (no remakes with the acception of ToP it was remade for the PSX) or same charactors)).
