Ive recently started a blog. Been updating it a lot as well. To begin with, I really hated the standard free blog templates. So I set out on a quest to design my own.

I believe it turned out very well, still needs some work in a couple of areas. But I want to see what you guys think of its design.

You can check it out >here< (http://www.greekstyle.blogspot.com)

Tell me what you think... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

A weB LOG. A journal.

Here's a popular hosting site, read some stuff about them:
www.blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com)

Here's mine:
Dream Diary (http://joonas_dreamdiary.blogspot.com) http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

There are blogs... about everything you can imagine.

Keeping a dream diary is a pretty good idea, I would have never thought anyone would post thier dreams online.. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The orange gets irritating after awhile.

But then again I don't read personal blogs, no offense. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, the orange-colored text kinda looks a little intense against the gray background. I suggest changing the color. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Guess you guys don't notice all the orange-on-gray of this very site. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The orange-on-gray on this site (3D Realms) is only for the hyperlinks in the forums and various graphics throughout the site. It isn't as intense and doesn't hurt the eyes. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's much more clear now comparing to the other one but it's also a bit too gay now. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/icons/irritated.gif

Then again, are you going to be serious or is that intentional?

Yeah, it is. The design of the old one was fine, you should've just changed the font color.

Well, I changed it again, now its very very green. Im quite happy with this new one.

However, I plan to redo that grunge one and put it back when Im done.

McBlog is a funny name.

The green looks nice, although to my eyes the font size you used is a bit small. Could be me, though.

Overall, that's a great design but there are a few weak points with the color use. There's too much green, in fact since yellow and green are partner colors it'd be better to create a distinction between them. Maybe put some red into the yellow and some blue into the green. Moreover, green looks more natural when is has less color, it's too saturated in your current blog design.

Here's a picture that illustrates the color adjustments I'm recommending.

Hmm, I do see your point.

However the bright greens are deliberate. Having darker and more desaturated greens often leads to colours like brown and khaki like you can see in your illustration. I tried to avoid such colours by using bright vibrant ones instead. However, I do agree, the colours are very similar, I should try to make certian elements appear more 'bold' than others.

('Ill also increase the font size)

I used to think that, all the non-bright colors are cliché right? I like to make things look natural; there's nothing to avoid there in my book.

Well its good to get some opinions, thanks guys.

Right now, theres alot of bitching going in the blog, so childish, probably very funny. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Im going to redo some of the page designs tommorow and clean it up a bit.
