er... ok, so you want to change the 2d hud weapons ( 1st person ones ) to 3dmodels? that is not possible yet unfortunatly. it might be in the next release of jonofs port.

The only problem is that I've asked JonoF about making some changes to the build editor and he said that it was low on his list of priorities, so I wrote some of them myself and offered the code to him, but he said he would rather do it himself. In other words, don't expect JonoF to except any changes you make to his code.

its technicly impossible right now. you could make some high resulition textures and replace the2d sprites with that, but 3d models for 1st person guns is not possible right now

since they are only ever seen form one view using models would be kinda pointless.

no it wouldnt, the weapons also bob around a bit, now its just an image "bobbing" but with 3d models it looks allot better. you can also animate it much better.

You're quite welcome to make your own special version of the editor with your own customisations, but what goes into the version I maintain is my decision. I have certain plans for stuff I want to do with the port, but since the code is GPL there's nothing stopping someone else with a different opinion from taking development in their own direction. That's how it's been working out so far with TerminX's EDuke port, and I'm willing to work with people who are wanting to put their own slant on their own thing. Good ideas that don't spoil the aim of the JF* ports may very well get brought into ports with full credit to their original creators.
Ken actually did quite a bit of work on getting MD2 models to draw on the 2D HUD, but the stuff that deals with the weapons I'm a little uneasy about at the moment for reasons I don't need to waste everyone's time with here. My idea for HUD models requires my often spoken about animation code to be done so that we can do far more elaborate things with the animation of weapons, instead of layering on the hacks in the DEF file to somehow make the existing animation system work.
So, people developing their own stuff based on the port and want to get access to my private development CVS (actually it's a Subversion repository, but it does the same job) can contact me and I'll set you up with access. I'm keeping it "invitation-only" (invited by me) since I run the server on my private DSL link which can't sustain a swarm of casual activity by those not committed, plus it'd just invite crackers. Before you say "you should set up on Sourceforge", I'm going to state right now that I won't be.

Sorry, no offense JonoF. I just didn't want to have to import my code again for every new release just for a few small changes, some of which were lost from the DOS version, but I respect that it's your prerogative.
I thought about razing the whole build.c file and do an new editor from scratch (sorry Ken), but I don't know if it will ever happen at this point.
