What do you think about the new Doom Guy?

I have only positive thoughts of Jack Campbell(Doom3-RoE guy) but i must tell you the Doom 3 guy looked better...
ok that sounded kinda gay...
but what do you think of the new-guy?

I liked the previous one better.
but if they used the new one in the original doom 3.
and the one from the original doom 3 in the expansion, I would like this one better.

Erm, he has no name. The old marine seemed to win the "Flynn Taggart" of this new universe award. Since he came first. Not the best :/ I want Flynn from Doom 1/2 back.

At the time the original Doom was out, they said they didn't want to give the Doom guy a game. They had just done that with Wolfenstein 3D having the protagonist have a name. They said they didn't want the Doom guy to have a name, because they wanted to play the angle of the "Doom guy is you".

Makes me think a while back.

In GTA 3, they never said anything about the character's name, and neither did he talk.

I think not revealing the name and the character not talking makes him look cooler and somehow darker. That's what everybody thought about GTA III and GTA Vice City. They really thought Tommy was a jackass, but that GTA 3 guy was a tough guy.

Or maybe it's only me. :P

But they reaveled the GTA 3 guy name in GTA San Andreas, it was Claude Speed, so whats the point.
Hell, Max Payne has a name in the game in he still looks so dark. It all depends on the game atmosphere, the name of the character is just a small addition.

Well, I would rather play as someone who's not up to the challenge ahead. It makes it kindo fmore intense. If you play as big generic muscle bound tough guy.... what's there to be scared of?

A guy can be a hero without being all muscles and everything. He doesn't have to be a big nerd to be an average guy.

I mean an average looking guy, who looks like he's not all the way prepared for what's ahead. Someone who looks like he could be in over his head. Yes I agree, since your character allready has his own face a name doesn't make any difference.

Anyway I'm neutral about this new guy, it's not that important I think since you only see his face during brief cutscenes.

Since it's only a skin and doesn't affect gameplay (if you for instance can't aim right, playing a highly trained marine still doesn't change that) I don't really mind what the main character looks like.

While I like the new lean DooM guy, I would have preferred that they retain the facial structure and hair color of the original; I feel that it contributed nicely to the "empathetic mask" effect.
