(Beware, I am not a Java coder, and this will most likely sound ridiculous)

I read recently that once you have written something in Java, it can work on any platform which supports it.

Now I recently bought a Java game for my mobile which I'm currently addicted to, and I was wondering if I bought a transfer cable for my phone complete with file tranfer software, would I be able to download the game and get it running on PC and maybe fiddle about with it a bit?

If it affects it, its a Motorola V220 http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't know much about this but I believe you just need a Java Runtime Environment on your OS. This is what I get from recently checking out a syntax editor, and on the download page it said OS independent - just required Java installed.

So my answer is maybe.

Step aside everyone, the Java master has arrived.

Ahem, yes it is possible. That Java game should be using Java Midlet technology for mobiles:
http://www.midlet.org/

But you will first need to download and install the J2ME Wireless Toolkit (http://java.sun.com/products/j2mewtoolkit/download-2_2.html).

Before you go ahead and buy all the needed equipment to transfer from your cellphone to your pc, I suggest you test it out first with Java mobile games (.jad files) that are available on the web. Such as these:
