If Max would commit suicide at the end of the third Max Payne, would it be a good end for you?
I'd say yes.

Not if the fraggle commits suicide.. if he must die, he should go out in a blaze of glory!
Wouldn't it make a lot more Story Noir, if he kills himself?

I guess you've just lost the challenge.
It would suck if Max killed himself imo.
(Note: I lost the challehnge yesturday, I challenged myself today to make a Nirvana reference in every post. I think I just made it for this one)

Well why not? Wouldn't this be a good way to finish the triology? Everyone dies. If everyone dies and not Max, it's too cliche and not Film Noir imo.

Why should he continue living anyway, he lost everything he cared about. Max Payne 3 will not be a Teletubies episode, it will be Noir too I guess, so he'll go again throught a lot of hell. And at the end he will succeed to beat all the bad guys, and then I guess he will lose some more things he love i

Most people would commit suicide if they were in Max's situation( Which not a lot of person come across) andit takes even less to people to kill themselfs.

How do you see it finishing then? He has to die, that's what I see it like, and the best way I see is suicide, or maybe by a friend's hand as ADM suggested.

If Max was going to commit suicide, I imagined he would have done it a long time ago. But he didn't, and killing himself now would be pointless after he's been through so much.

Ivan just because your new found obsession with Kurt Cobain doesn't mean that EVERYONE HAS TO COMMIT SUICIDE!
Personally having our ultimate anti-hero die via suicide would really make a depressing ending (especially for an action game).
If he were to die (which I think would suck big time) at least have him go out in a blaze of glory. Max is the type of man to fight tooth and nail to the last bullet than throw his empty gun at someone.. not someone who curls up in the corner in the fetal position and put's a bullet in his head. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Well considering that they paid 45 million $ for the rigths, they would have to make 45 million $ in profits in order to even break even !!!!
As a business Take 2 should preferably make a profit from the aquistion of the rigths.
In order to do that only by making Max Payne 3, they would have to make more than 45 million $ in [u]profits</u> from Max Payne 3 !!!
Then I think we are doomed. If there's a Max Payne 4, it might get too crappy. I always thought it was going to be a good triology.

When I played the first game I was wondering why there were no suicidal remarks in Max's voice-overs. His character seems to be free from any kind of suicidal tendencies.
So the only way I could see a suicide work at the end would be if Max had completely lost his mind, and that had to be a really dark and tragic process. I doubt there're too many people who want to play something like that as a game.
Maybe Max would rather go for an indirect suicide, like going consciously against odds beyond any bullettime-luck survival.
The happily ever after ending definitely doesn't work for me. At the very end I could possibly picture Max in some insane assylum.

why not go with an open ending? leave his future up to speculation. something symbolic, tragic and depressing would be my choice. without having him die. imho max is meant to live and he's also meant to lead this kind of life, so i'd be very, very unhappy if he really were to die.

It would be cool ending scene, where Max is faced by several enemies, the last boss and his henchmen. Max knows that he has now change of getting out of the room alive, but he has decided to take as many of them with him as he can, especially "the boss".
They stare each others, goon draws his weapon, but Max is quicker and shoots him right in the middle of the eyes, gettin a shot in his back. Max yells in pain, turns, BANG, another shot to his chest. Max drops down on his knees, shooting 2 guys at the same time. Another shot, hits Max to his right shoulder, Max collapses on ground, dropping his weapon.
The boss and last goon walks to Max, he tries to grab his pistol, but gets shot again. The boss says something to Max and starts walking away towards gasoline canister, when Max with his last strenght takes another pistol from his anckle holster, shooting the boss to back of his/her head, the last goon turns around, Max shoots him, but the goon manages to hit Max too. Max collapses on ground, empty stare in his eyes...screen fades out.
