Among the segments showing Shadow's rail sliding, homing jump, and speed burst abilities, it was hard to miss Shadow packing some heat. Yes, the dark hedgehog rolls strapped with a pistol of some kind, and he appears to have no qualms about using to take out fools in his way.
Oh splendid. It's Xtrem-special-commando-assasin-sonic. And his name is actually SHADOW! How original! This must be a dream come true for the weirder part of the sonic fandom.

I like Shadow, I think he is a great addition to the Sonic universe, much like Knuckles.

I really liked Sonic Adventure 1, but SA 2 and Sonic Heroes didn't do that much for me.
I hope the gameplay doesn't involve falling off the levels every 10 seconds and isn't based on jumping from rail to rail.
I'm a hardcore Sonic fan, so I'll definitly buy it.

i personally think that sonic games have ALOT of pontential in them....it's just that yuji naka never seems to bring the most out of the characters and i think this could be the first game (or spinoff) from the series that could let the other games evolve some more...
i'd LOVE to see an older sonic in the newer games...i've always wanted a darker story from sonic games ever since sonic adventure 2 because of shadow being in the game and that game just seemed alot darker than the others, if this game is a hot then we might see an all new side to sonic in future game http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Seriously, I think Sonic neends more "darkness" just as much as Mario: Not at all. Or at least they could be a bit more creative. A badass named SHADOW? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif That's worse than "Buzz Bunny".

Shadow wielding a pistol is retarded, admit it, the last thing we need it a devil may cry platformer wanna be or a ratchet and clank clone. I mean seriously comon, the best weapon the crew can come up with is a lousy gun. Give me a break.

am i the only one that's actually quite excited about this game?
as far as i can see this game looks like everything a 3d sonic game should be....just super fast mental running levels and super loop the loops and lots of combo bouncing on enemies heads and shooting stuff......

The gun stuff just seems kind of silly and out of place though. Even though Shadow is a creation and a weapon of destruction and stuff, I just don't see him using a gun.

ok so maybe a gun isn't the best thing ever....but u never know, this could be a prequal rather than just a spin off.....and nobody really knows anything about the game yet so i don't know why people keep assuming things...
but the thing is that sonic team need to make this game slightly different from your average sonic games because then what's the point of a sonic game if u have shadow and what's the point of shadow game if u have sonic.....they're both essentially the same character, only one is evil and the other is good, they both have the same powers and everything they do revolves around speed...
so to me, having a shadow game where he just runs around "darker" levels as opposed to sonic who runs around bright colourful levels is pretty pointless....they may aswell make another sonic game if they're just going to do that...
but like i said before, you never know what this game may turn out to be...i'm a very big fan of sega and sonic team so i have alot of faith in them because i've enjoyed pretty much every sonic game and all the spin offs to date

But who knows? The gun could compliment high speed gameplay perfectly. It looks like you can shoot and run at the same time. THe biggest problem with Sonic Heros was the constant switching. It slowed down gameplay way too much.
