IMO, it was a kick-ass action RPG. I really loved it.

Can it beat Morrowind? Will it beat Oblivion? This will be interesting...

So, will the PC version get twice the suck?
I want something extra if i'm going to buy it from the bargain bin in 3 years.

The game is 30% bigger and gets a lot of the stuff cut from the Xbox version.

I love it on the Xbox so I'll probably pick it up for the PC when I upgrade my comp.

Fable was an ok game, not the best, but a fun time waster.
It was very short though, but I admit I didn't do everything there was to do in that game... was borrowing my friend's Box and rented Fable only for 5 days... luckily I beat it in that small amount of time.

Will probably wait till the PC version is released before deciding to get it or not, depending on the new content.

I'll probably get this....it'll be a lot cheaper than buying an Xbox http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

One thing from that article made me think though:

In Fable, players start as a young boy and eventually reach old age,

By using certain weapons or acting in certain manners, the hero's physical appearance may change. He or she may become slim if ranged weapons and spells are frequently used, while he or she may become buff and burly if face-to-face scraps are favored.

Now, was the writer just being stupid? Or do you think they are going to include the sister - like was originally intended. If i remember correctly, Fable was supposed to be the story of a brother and sister - one of which you chose to play the life of. This was then cut down to only the young boy...

They should never of released the xbox version of fable in it's current state. Had the potential to blow things away but then turned out to be so slimmed down...

I hope when it comes to PC they release a fable 1.5 or something for xbox as well.

Should be interesting to see what they add for the PC version.
And yes Jade Empire will be awsome.

I may buy both.

Maybe they are confusing it with Dragon Empire, which is Bioware's new PC title in the working.

Jade Empire was console only the last time i heard anything about it...

Errhhhmm...Dragon Age. And that's only for PC as far as I know.

I'm interested in Jade Empire - the chinese-esque fantasy world is a nice change from Forgotten Realms. But knowing Bioware, they'll botch the most important part of the game - the story and make it hugely predictable.

...but we'll see....

Ho yes, Dragon Age, sorry http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

At any rate, i concur, i'm afraid Bioware is going to water this down with their usual superficiality, but i'm sure it's going to be an enjoyable game, particularly if they put interesting characters in it (which is something they are pretty good at).

It's not wrong, it's irrelevant.

Which is better, Mohammad Ali or Anti-lock breaks?

Actually, to make an sarcastic comment you should have said:

Who is better, Mohammad Ali or Donovan Bailey?

You can't compare completely unrelated things. At least his comparison was between computer games, even if it was between games in different genres. A comparison which is fine in this case. You can say, i prefer track and field to boxing.....

So, you're wrong.

Ivan

I'm going to compare what ever I feel to. Now you go back flaming yourselfs somewhere else.

Got Fable the lost chapters on thursday, but this is the first time i've had a chance to play/install. Annoyingly they've put it on FOUR CD's rather than one DVD....

I hate these things and to top it all off, my DVD drive is having trouble "gripping" the third cd.

Did anyone else pick it up?

Thing is, he was comparing his enjoyment of each game and not the games themselves.

When the writer of that article wrote "he or she", he could've been refering to the gender of the player and not the in-game protagonist.

Duoae

LOL, perhaps i should have started a new thread.

Anyway, install was okay but there are some really annoying things with this game.

My setup:

3GHz P4
2048 3200 DDR RAM
Audigy 2 ZS
Geforce 6800 128 MB

Now, i can't run the game with full settings without serious slowdown: i realise that they've upped the detail for the PC version, but when the recommended system is a 1.4 GHz, 256 RAM and 64 MB gfx card then i expect to get higher than "above average" quality. The world zones / maps aren't even that big either so it's not as if it has to draw much... I can live with this though as the game certainly isn't ugly and the effects are nice... eg. the bloom is well done for a fantasy game IMO.

The only thing that really annoys me is the npcs. I know the world is a living system with npc's travelling the roads.... but when they crowd in on the fight with you and ten other assailants in the tight and small maps they've designed, you can't move at all. Not to mention they also fight the enemies and get in the way of your attacks - i've accidentally killed a few this way. I'd rather they stood back and cowered in a corner somewhere making you appear all the more heroic.

Apart from that it's a nicely rounded game.

Went to EB Games yesturday and they didn't have it yet. I've been meaning to pick this up when they said it had more levels than the original.

If anyone has it, could you tell us how it plays? Easy controls, stable, good framerate? Or problems, glitches, etc?

I have it - on the specs noted above.

It runs fine on full effects and almost full everything else at 1024x768.

I really love the game. Though as i stated the fighting can get frustrating when you're trying to manouver in small spaces.

I haven't really got the knack of blocking yet though so my character has loads of scars...

Blocking is for wimps. Just learn the shield spell. You will find it far more useful than bothering to learn how to block.

So how much more is there in terms of missions?
On the XBox the game could be completed in a single sitting with daylight remaining. lol

I never played the original. But put it this way. I played an hour friday night. 7-8 hours on saturday and another 5 hours on sunday....

One sitting? How long was this sitting and was it exploring the world or just going through the main quests.

Is that considering you know where to go already? I can think of dozens of games I own that are the same way, and yet take hours if its your first time through.

No, Fable was very short. Although if you want to see everything it'll last awhile.

I was looking forward to picking this up, but I can't afford it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Maybe in a few weeks.

widowmaker
09-28-2005, 04:27 PM
Took me about 8 hours completing all of the missions except the early one in which you are supposed to kill ten sparrows.
I have completed the game in less than five hours now that I know where I am going.
The XBox version is really short.

It's 60$ here right now without taxes, which makes it 70$ CDN. As much as I want to play this game, I will not pay seventy dollars for a game that's supposedly on the short side. I have enough games to keep me busy right now. I'll wait until the price has gone down. A lot.

I just watched an IGN video review of this and the biggest red flag that popped up:

"the missions don't allow you to fail"

So you can't live with consequences of that if you do. Which, is how most games do it... that might be odd to get used to.

I've been debating picking this up but after hearing that I'm leaning towards an "umm yeahhhhh, how about not"

The game is OK. You can kill an entire town and then they all show up again later. Of course, you can't kill the children.

I found it entertaining for one play through, maybe I would pick it up again if I was the type to try every possible way to play a game.

hiob

It's fun and I love how the hero ages and changes along the game. I played through it once doing everything right, being the good guy etc. Then I started the game twice trying to be evil, but I always lost my interest after a few days, the game is just way too linear and simple for me.
