I don't think it's the 64 bit capabilities your computer deperately needs.
What are the rest of your PC specs? A faster processor is all well and good, but if you have 16 MB RAM and a 512 KB EISA videocard, you will still be up shit creek. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wouldn't you need a new mother board also, if you switched/upgraded to a Athlon 64 bit processor?
The Athlon XP CPUs run on the socket A, and the first-generation Athlon 64s run on the socket 754. If you've got cash, you could get a second generation socket 939 w/PCI-e capabilities, but it's not necessary because most games don't use all the bandwidth that AGP has provided.

A Athlon XP 2800 is fine, get the PSP instead. I have an XP 1800 with no significant problems currently.
Also, you can get AGP 939 pin socket mobos too, so you don't have to get PCIe.

Or, you can buy the 64bit processor... and give it to me. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
