I'm currently designing a website for my uncle so here's the setup. Index.html is just a pic with the text/link "ENTER". Click on that and it opens up the page with 2 frames. After that throughout the entire site, it shows www.domain.com/opening.htm. (http://www.domain.com/opening.htm.) It looks rather unprofessional and I'd like to make a way where it will just show www.domain.com. (http://www.domain.com.) Either that or fix it so that it will show the correct page names. I'm using Frontpage '03.
The website isn't uploaded yet so thats why I didn't put the actualy domain name on the URL.
Theres a couple of choices.. you could use mod_rewrite for it but that is more server specific and as such requires you to know what you're doing.
So I'll go the easy way for you.. it can simply be done by making a frameset with two frames, set the first to have a height of 0 (thus making it invisible) and the other displaying the entire site.
The result would be a normal looking site but no matter where they go in your site it'll always show http://www.domain.com/ at the top.

I have to add my personal opinion here. Static URL's that don't give me any location reference as to what page I'm at, despite the fact that that particular page probably has it's title in it, is annoying.
I suppose it's not such a big deal, but even worse is hiding status bar links.

I know that some people find it rather annoying. Personally its never been an issue with me. Anyhow, his website isn't that big. He's a professional photographer and needed a simple elagant website to publish some of his work and advertise.

Simple. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I do have one criticism though. You should really lose the navigation frame. If you must keep the frame, it would be better if you removed the currently movable frameset border.

Okay, the frame stays but I did make it nonresizable and took out the border.
EDIT: Also to those who find the masked URL thing annoying. If you're using Firefox, you can simply get the actual URL by right clicking on the link and opening the page up in a new tab. For IE users....like sucks huh... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Or just right-click and copy the shortcuts from the bottom links http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
