- DoD:S Update Log

Changes in this version:

quote:- possible fix for players not respawning at round start - scream real loud if you respawn at the other end of the map, at least on the test server.
- fixed excessive recoil
- bazooka and mg sensitivities are no longer a fraction of regular sensitivity, they have their own fixed values
- no longer draw shadows of the person we are first person spectating
- added cvar cl_identiconmode ( 2 = draw teammate head icons, 1 = draw target teammade head icons ( not yet implemented ), 0 = no head icons )
- fixed allied scope reticle and scope in widescreen resolutions
- stop hud from showing flags as capped after the round ends
- reduced rocket size so it can be shot through windows a bit more easily
- blood effects are now sent from server so you know when you actually damaged someone
- fixed going prone taking away your momentum
- fixed players getting up from prone on spawn if they died while prone
- voicemenu 3 now includes "drop your weapons"
- fixed 30cal now showing low ammo animations in the ammo belt
- fixed weapons not autoreloading immediately after you draw them
- fixed bazookas ejecting a shell
- must be on ground to deploy mg. Fixes jumping at a window, deploying and then falling below the window and being deployed into a wall
- various warnings and errors fixed

Source just was not designed for rocky changing terrian.... and the hands are just like that in cs-source.

Yeah, I always said that I may love HL2DM, but I am not a huge fan of the Source engine now.

Daveman

Counter-Strike source is giving me the most entertaining and satisfying shootouts of any game I've played to date. This coming from a guy who despised 1.6. Imagine what the source engine can do to my beloved DoD?http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

3.1 was better than 1.0 retail anywho. I wish it had remained third party.

dumbasses, if you would read up a bit first, those DOD shots still use all original Models for weapons and player models, new models will be made and included before release, so don't judge the graphics cos of the lores models, look at the quality maps instead

Jokke_r is right.
There more likely place holder models.
If the models in HL 2 and CS:S are any indication, I don't think we will be dissapointed.

Are the map textures also placeholders? What about the level geometry? Placeholder geometry? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I think they should have left the bazooka and mg sensitivities as a fraction of the main sensitivity. Granted, people could still exploit this with sensitivity binds, it would leave less of a jarring difference (between other gun sensitivities and bazooka/mg sensitivities) for people with much higher main sensitivities.

Duh, anyone who doesn't get that is obviously inherently foolish. I just hope they don't release the beta without fixing that damn thumb. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mryuck.gif

By far. DoD in its current state is an ugly thing. Even for a HL mod.

Brothers in arms looks 1000 times better :-)

Daveman

And Call of Duty looks thousands of times better than Brothers in Arms, but that's off topic.

First off it doesn't really look that much better, except in terms of texture quality, and frankly, I love DoD (ruled as a sniper) but damned if I wanna pay for it. Maybe if it was 1000 times cooler than the last version of DoD that came out, but no, doesn't seem like they went that route. *sigh*

It's not a mod because Valve are developing it in house. I don't see why developers should work for free.

They put work into it, you pay for that work.

Having just purchased and registered my new copy of HL2 (!), when is the current expected release date? Did I miss info or guess as to individual price?

Are there any other similar mods in the works that anyone knows about?

Daveman

Public beta is due out sometime this Spring. Full version out Fall/Winter 2005.

Doppelgofer
04-23-2005, 12:04 PM
where did you hear that? if thats true, BRILLIANT!

there'll be some catch though

Daveman
04-23-2005, 05:11 PM
Well, the catch being that you have to buy the game to play the beta, or already have bought Steam Silver edition. I imagine we'll get a good game with more than a few maps. Most "public beta" releases of mods are closer to alphas than betas. Alpha release doesn't mean unstable. Alpha means stable but largely unbalanced.
