Watched this again for the first time in years, still one of the funniest shows ever made, I saw the one with the movie "CAVE DWELLERS", said to be the poor mans Conan the barbarian, every comment said in that episode was perfect.

Great show. I'm somewhat of a reserved person, and even a lot of comedies I like still don't make me laugh out loud, but MST3K can make me laugh until I'm out of breath. I just got a bunch of MST3K DVD's this past christmas, and I'm still working my way thru them, trying to make them last.

Last one I watched was Overdrawn at the Memory Bank, best quip from that:

I challenge anyone to produce a more vast collection of VHS tapes straight from TV than I have. Comedy Central and ScFi MST3k. I have almost all of them. Haven't watched one in ages. Certainly one of the funniest shows in the history of TV.

IMHO, some of the best .RTS files from ROTT and Duke3D came from MST3k clips. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have the DVD set, and they're all hysterical, some more than others. While it's not in the set, the Japanese-technicolor-alien invasion film is one of my first TV memories.

I love MST3k. I have the first 3 collections, the essentials collection, and The Beggining of the End on DVD.

I'd say the theme song (well, not the only lyrics, but the ones that explain it best) will answer your question:

In the not too distant future,
Next Sunday A.D.
There was a guy named Joel,
Not too different from you or me
He worked at Gizmonics Institute,
Just another face in a red jumpsuit
He did a good job cleaning up the place,
But his bosses didn't like him,
So they shot him into space!

"We'll send him cheesy movies,
"The worst we can find (la-la-la)
"He'll have to sit and watch them all,
"And we'll monitor his mind (la-la-la)
Now keep in mind Joel can't control,
Where the movies begin or end (la-la-la)
Because he used those special parts,
To make his robot friends

Robot Roll Call: (Come on, let's go)
Cambot (Pan left)
Gypsy (Hi girl)
Tom Servo (What a cool guy)
Croooow! (You little wisecracker)

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes,
And other science facts (la-la-la)
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show,
I should really just relax".
For... MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000!

This show was on Comedy Central for a number of years, then followed by a stint on Sci-Fi. IMHO, CC days were the best. Go here (http://www.mst3k.com/) for more info than you could possibly want about the show. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I liked it a lot when it was shown on UPN or some such before it was on Comedy Central. Back then it was about 30 minutes long and shown at a bizarre hour like 3 am on Sunday. Oh, memories.
I hate that the show has encouraged unfunny ****s to comment in actual movie theatres but I still love the show.

Eh? I'm pretty sure it MST started out as a WAAAAY low budget show on some local station in like minneapolis when you and I were like 10. It was on Comedy Central and broadcasting new shows back when I was in elementary.

I am confused.

Edit: Here is a list of dates for the show. (http://www.mst3k.com/episodes/index.html)

It was based out of Hopkins, a suburb of Minneapolis. I went to the office once but it was closed http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

When I originally watched it it was extremely low budget, and I see nothing conflicting about it being when I was in grade school. My mom, I lived with my mom and she worked the graveyard shift, so I was often up until 5 am almost every night and I would go to bed right before my mom got home from work. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've only ever seen the movie (which I taped off TV), and it's hilarious. Oddly enough, I just watched it again last weekend. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

"Did you notice the large indentations on their foreheads?"
"NO!!!!!!"

I have a bunch of the DVD sets, but I have yet to see one with my favorite MST3K ever.

Pumaman!

It's just some white guy who wears a pancho and when he flips it over his back he can fly. He has no other powers I've noticed except for the ability to hide from alien weapon blasts by running and hiding behind bushes.
