Does anyone know how to manually load the CD-ROM driver off the Windows 98SE boot disk in DOS?

Thanks. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes. It must be in config.sys. Go to the bootdisk's config.sys, and find the line pertaining to the CD driver. I think it's oakcd<something>.sys. Copy that line to your regular config.sys, copy the file to the hard drive, change the drive letter...and it loads!

And then after it loads, the device doesn't work because you didn't tell him that he needs to use MSCDEX to actually use it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

He didn't ask how to use the drive. He asked how to load the driver. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Doesn't the floppy give you that option when you boot it?

1) Boot with CD-Rom drivers
2) Boot without CD-Rom drivers

He probably has the version without CD-ROM drivers.
