hello any of you guys know a (not insanely expensive) way to connect my gamecube to my pc or monitor?
i am thinking of buying a nice 5.1 suround sound set for my pc, and my current monitor has a way nicer picture then my widescreen tv :P
and i got no chair near my tv only my bed infront i dont sit that well there...
so i would really like to have my gc pluged into my pc so i can use it there http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
i just dont want to lose any of my picture quality i mean like runing it throu a weird signal splitter that reduces how nice it looks :P
is a tv-tuner a option?
wont it cause a delay betrine i press the controller til it happens on screen? i mean the pc takes time to convert the tv signal to digital right? i dont know anything about tv tuners really so dunno :P
please help guys http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I know how you can get a 5.1 surround sound system to hook up to your Game Cube. Came with my Logitech Z-5300e 5.1 THX speakers, but yours may not have come with it. It's a three way "female" style plug.

go to www.cablestogo.com (http://www.cablestogo.com) and look for a S-VIDEO/COMPOSITE VIDEO TO VGA CONVERTER. Thats what I use.

Well, I do happen to have a TV Tuner hooked up on my PC that I recently installed as part of a Media Center package (not with Microsoft's MCE, but with SnapStream's Beyond Media/Beyond TV combo). I have a WinTV PVR-150 installed, and it seems to have a lot of options for connecting any TV/Input source imaginable. I'm quite sure that it has an option for putting a GameCube, PS2, or XBox into it somewhere. I'll have to look at the back of my PC to see where it would fit. However, since my PC can play some decent games itself, it would be a little overkill to have both a PC and a PS2 with the TV Tuner all playing out of the same tower, even with the HT technology. I don't believe I would try that. Even if I did, I would just use one of those "Plug 'n Play" TV Game joysticks, like those retro-game boxes, those I could see working better with the TV Tuners for PC.

from what i hear about those mod cables the games have to have something called scan-something to find the right chanel to use the monitor,
i think ill look more into getting a tv-tuner http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif thx http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a Compro PVR, it gets great ratings. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-160-017&depa=1
Check out this site for PVR's, it helped me to decide on a compro.

I have an external TV tuner running to my graphics card then to my monitor. Then to my TV. Also a Pelican switch box splitting the AV input into four additional AV taps.
Currently I have a Gamecube, Dreamcast and playstation 2 hooked up to my monitor PC.

thx you just saved me from getting a card i wouldnt have had much use for http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

at that review i heard:
As I said at the start you are able to plug almost any device into the back of the card (within reason). To test this I plugged in a Sony PlayStation and my Fuji FinePix 4800z Digital Camera. The Sony PlayStation was plugged into the antenna input since I don’t have a composite or s-video connector for it. Unfortunately the way the PVR card works makes console games almost unplayable, this is because the PVR takes time to get the signal and convert it to the desired MPEG format. So there is a delay between inputs from the controller to seeing it on the screen which I would estimate being around 2 seconds. I managed to find a mode that had a very small delay which made final fantasy playable however fast games would still be a problem. Maybe there is a setting to get raw data so there is no delay, but I wasn’t able to find it.
hmm seems i have to think carefully before selecting a card http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
btw Gatinater good setup you got but isnt anything i will do since as i heard from quite a few reviews having your monitor un throu a box makes a "loop back or what its called" that reduces the quality and thats the last thing i want i paid alot of money for my nice monitor i want to enjoy it at full quality http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I played Halo 2 using my compro and there was no considerably or even noticeable delay... but the quality was not as good as viewing on a TV.

I have tryed connecting an N64 to PC (Uses same cable as cube, xbox, and ps2) using an older WinTV card, dont remember exactly what model it was. I was sucessful, but it was so long ago i cant remember the graphic quality. There were no delays either.

I use a VGA box to connect my Dreamcast to my monitor so I don't see why you can't do the same with a GC.
