Yeah, it's not following the story of the games but it's got Kristanna Loken (the TX from Terminator 2) and Michelle Rodrigues (Resident Evil). Plus the trailer isn't looking too shabby. I kinda like the 17th century theme for vampire movies.

I'd expect this will be as entertaining as the Resident Evil movies - not award winning cinema, but entertaining for a couple of hours.

I'm kinda looking forward to this. But then I'm a fan of BloodRayne (and pretty much any girl that can kick my ass). I'll probably see it in the theaters and if it isn't abysmal, I'll grab it on DVD when it's released.

That trailer was weak as hell and it was pretty damn cheesy. "Keep your friends closer and your enemies even closer" Oh, haven't heard that one before! And that she feasts, lusts and slays...oh my god!

But the worst parts were that the fighting was weak and light. There was no weight at all. AND how in the hell has Uwe Böll been able to get Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen in this movie?! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif That is just sad.

Plus the best part of Bloodrayne was the nazis.

Here is a fantastic news. Uwe Boll is momentarily negociating on the filmrights of "Postal" with the gamedevelopers "Running with Scissors". Let us hope that this will work so that we can see the coolest psycho-guy of the digital world on the screens.

What next, GTA?

Seriously though, that trailer sucked.

To be fair.....the movie's story is meant to be a prequel to the game (much like the Resident Evil movie was). At least in this way, the movie itself is reasonably distanced from what people who played the game might expect....

But on the other hand.....this was the same pre-story approach taken with the House of the Dead....and we all know how that turned out... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

That trailer is ***** horrible. Visual quality is on par with a cheap made for TV movie and despite a few decent actors (Madsen, Kingsley) every single person seems to have put their worst foot foward. Costumes and makeup are ***** laughable.

Thank god this is the last film of Bolls contract. After this I doubt he'll be getting any funding. Thank god.

Only Bolls death can end the nightmare. Didn't he say in interviews his favorite game would be "Hitman"? I think this is a sign. He subconsciously wants to be assassinated. Kinda like serial killers that leave behind clues and "stop me"-messages in bloody letters.

"They were better than actors. We looked for local Romanian actresses, but there they are all from the theater and act very broadly. For 150 euros a piece the whores would be naked and do as they were told. It was better".

"In fact, to the festival crowd, he advised them that casting your movie at the last minute, suddenly you are able to get great names with holes in their schedule. The cast of BLOODRAYNE only began to be cast a mere Two Weeks prior to cameras rolling".

"BLOODRAYNE is a waste of time and talent and money. I found it to be a degree or two better than ALONE IN THE DARK – but that’s like smelling your shit 3 days in a row and saying on the third day, “Ya know, I think this smells a little better than yesterday’s.” It’s still shit."

January 3, 2006 - German director Uwe Boll is occupied with videogame adaptations these days. BloodRayne is just his latest, an 18th-century vampire flick based on the popular game series of the same name. Boll's take on the story, however, sets it in a different era than the videogames. While the original Agent Rayne fought both vampires and Nazis during the Second World War, Boll's female protagonist deals with the fell race's beginnings in Transylvania.

"I felt that setting BloodRayne in 1750, Transylvania created a stronger, creeper atmosphere then placing Vampires in the Second World War," Boll explained in an interview at Dark Horizons. "I see BloodRayne as a franchise and chose to focus on the story's origins."

Boll acknowledges the edgy, violent characteristics of his movie. " BloodRayne is an extremely violent, disturbing mainstream Vampire movie. Our heroine is no 'Elektra' or 'Catwoman'. It may be difficult for some audience members to accept her as such an unlikely heroine. Hopefully some people will embrace her less than traditional qualities."

Starring as the movie's title character is Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3), whom Boll feels was a perfect fit for the part. "Loken is the perfect Rayne.....she's hard, strong, tall and sexy.....a warrior and a women. Rayne doesn't win over everyone's heart in the film. She has her own sense of purpose and destiny and frequently resorts to extreme violence. Rayne is a sexy, blood sucking opportunist with elements of heart and vulnerability. She is a survivor."

For her part, Loken felt that the raw violence of the movie and the ambiguities of her half-vampire character made the film worthwhile. "We really just wanted to make it very primal. In the moments of her blood rage or blood lust it's subconscious because [Rayne] doesn't rationally want to kill to sustain herself. It's very animalistic and very raw. That's one of the reasons I really loved working with Uwe [Boll, director]. He really likes to go to those places.

"It's not a polished film in that sense where everybody looks great and it's all wrapped up in a nice happy ending. It's dirty, it's messy, it's raw and it's dark and very disturbing. I remember watching it the first time and a lot of the sequences really freaked me out."

Loken feels this rawness could be a recipe for success – something that has been lacking from most of Boll's cinematic endeavours. "It's not Hollywood in that sense. We went for it and that will ultimately set it apart. Plus we have a real story behind it. I think a lot of the video game adaptations lack that, but we've got a great eclectic group of actors who had a lot to work with. I truly believe the audience will invest in these people's lives."

Other upcoming films by Uwe Boll include Dungeon Siege (which also happens to star Kristanna Loken) and Far Cry – both based on videogames. The director also said he'd like to do a second BloodRayne set in the Wild West.

Watch IGN FilmForce for more Bloodrayne coverage this week, including exclusive video interviews with the cast and crew.

My family rented this travesty. I tried to watch because I thought it would be something I could make fun of later. I couldn't take it though. I walked out when they announced that she had to find the magic talisman. You'd think T.J. Sakesegawa (http://imdb.com/name/nm0757135/) had something to do with the writing.

I liked how they'd flashback on the same thing three times in the first twenty minutes, just in case your ADD is acting up.

Exploiting tax loopholes to make money for wealthy investors. Essentially, he's leeching off the german tax payer.
