Mouse Aiming and mouse movement in general seems a little off. Or maybe it's just me.
If mouse aiming is set to toggle, it's impossible to turn it on. When the mouse aiming key is pressed, a message is displayed saying that mouse aiming was turned off, even though it was never on.
Mouse movement feels a bit jerky. Doesn't feel as smooth as JFDuke3D, but it's still perfectly playable.
I'm running the game at 1280x1024 32 bpp, if that helps any.
Other than that, no problems so far. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, there are a few problems with the mouse. The game is extremely jerky for me with vsync on as well, so you might try turning that off if you've got it enabled.

I am on it! THANK YOU Jonathon!
Just ran through a bit of the first level, and things are looking terrific. The only problems I've had so far: a lack of CD sound (I haven't messed with settings much, so maybe I overlooked it); and the 3D sprites aren't working for me. I didn't see that as a known issue, so I thought I'd mention it.
Edit: Ahh, darn. The release notes mentioned lack of CD sound. I will leave my blind idiocy up for all to see.

I've ran through it a bit and the only problems I could find were the fact that the cd music doesn't work and that the game runs a tad laggy and choppy. One bug was weird though, in level 2/3 of the shareware episode I remember having to run that vehicle you had to fix through the wooden boxes. Well that didn't work, strangely enough http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I found something else though.. I was bummed that I could never get JfDuke to run in full-screen and gl at the same time .. but with JfSw it works http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hhg.gif Awesome! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Edit: just noticed the cd music thing has already been mentioned above. The voxels díd work here though.
Final edit: Forgot to mention that if you press F7 you can still see the weapon at the bottom of the screen. I don't know if this is supposed to be like that so if it is forget I said anything.

Hrm, if you mean Voxels, I believe, I could be mistaken, that they dont work in polymost... I remember in a JFDuke discussion that someone had mentioned that Voxels do not work in polymost... So don't quote me on that, but if your talkin about voxels that might be why http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Voxels are it. Well, I guess those items will be taken care of eventually by the model makers.

You guys can have your SW I just hope JF keeps up w/ Duke.. ROR on duke, and I'll be in heaven.... Put a map on hold just so I can wait for JF duke(or Eduke) to support that feature!
And besides ROR, someone talked about the possibility of vehicles being ported to Duke! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

The mouse aiming toggle keeps switching so rapidly while the key is pressed that it might look like it's turning off. I have to fix the repeating issue in the next release. The jerky mouse input is also to be addressed along with the other mouse input quirks people are seeing.

Can`t get it go... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif It fails to identify my Sidewinder 3D (which it tries by default), then all controlls are lost. No keyboard, no mouse... I am stuck on the main menu and nothing moves, can`t do anything, but to exit through the task manager. Any ideas? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The only person porting the vehicles would be me (unless someone wants to do it themselves and submit a patch, hint hint) and right now I've got a bit too much to do lately. It's going to take a lot of meddling around with both sets of source to get such a thing working methinks.

LOL - Jonof thought you might have had ogg support with the first release.
Seriously tho - excellent job runs best i've ever seen it.
Thx mate.
ALso it should be pretty easy to make a start on a sw-hrp - fonts can be used sraight from the jf-hrp.

While the game tries to create joystick device (in setup window) I get crash message: "Failed setting buffering: DI_POLLEDEVICE", then the main menu loads, but all controlls are off. Is there any way around this?
SamSwashbuckler

Can still use F2/F3 to save/load.
at the start of level 2, I tried to save and it crashed (or intentionally exited?). There's a game0.sav file, 8KB.
I can see the savegame (complete with the name I gave it and the mini screenshot) but trying to load it crashes it.

Woo! First error message!
Okay, running the game, even without changing any settings, brings the following error:
"Failed setting buffering: DI_POLLEDDEVICE"
From there, I cant move to any menu items, the app seems to accept no keyboard input. Normal windows command work (ctrl-alt-del, windows key)
Wait a sec, just figured it out. I had by Xbox controller plugged in. A soon as i took it out and re-fired SW, it worked perfectly. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif
Anyway, its still a bit of a bug report, as I hadn't selected to use the joystick, only mouse and keyboard. Meh.
Huge round of applause to you Jonof! Now we can finally play SW in all its glory!

My mouse acts up with this game http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
from time to time, during a movement of the mouse (say up) it reverses for a very brief moment, sometimes bringin my view either way up or way down. Makes it really hard to aim...
besides that everything looks to work pretty sweetly!
great stuff, it ran no problem, but a few 'bugs'
saving game by f2 resulted in a crash
weapons still visible when using f7 view mode
IMPORTANT:
for some reason all monsters (i tested it in 1st level) always play alot of their PAIN sounds (ninja's most noticeable) and very few of their 'ambient' sounds, it never happened in original game, now it sounds like you're playing coop or something! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
anyway great work for a first port release!

BTW, some minor bugs or quirks you guys are encountering might very well be due to the game code that was provided in the first place. Since it was kludged together from various files with drastically different dates (and some things even different games!), it's very possible that certain gameplay elements are modified or broken because the real file was missing or from an earlier version of the game.
Both icculus and Jonothan have done a kickass job though, should be a fun year. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When I hit a gong a melody plays! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Why is that!? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hhg.gif
I don't get that anymore since I extracted all the .voc files from SW.GRP. I hear a gong sound when I hit a gong now, GONG.VOC to be exact.
I figured it out, I had Carger2000's Santa Wang (http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=750286&an=0&page=0#750286) on which comes with it's own GONG.VOC, which is a melody.

What is the final version of Shadow Warrior ?
I have v1.2.
But, when i start the game i got this=
ENTER THE WANG
Four Levels: Shareware Version.
CODE OF HONOR
Eighteen Levels: Full Version Only.
Are there a patch, so i can got the full version of Enter The Wang ???
Now i am confused http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
What does that mean...
"Sorry my bad English" http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif
means that shareware version had only 4 levels that ended up with serpent god getting away.
the full version has 2nd episode with tons more levels, and the "full version only" seems to be leftover description from the shareware version.
if you have only shareware version (mind you the latest shareware is also uptodate with registered version and also is 1.2), then, well, bad luck - get a full commercial copy!
simply try playing episode 2 right away - if you get a level when you start in a boat then you have registered version.

Hehe http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I always used gong.voc for my own voc's because it aint used much and it easy to remember http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
The melody comes from the jukebox when you access it in Santa wang.

Ah! For some reason my mouse aiming doesn't work. Doesn't matter if I got it in toggle or momentary, I move the moust Wang moves forward back, etc. Using 'u' to switch mouse aimin on/off doesn't change that behaviour. Anyone else have this too?
3D Master

Sorry, for second post, forgot to add to favorites, and got some more thingies:
It seems 'u' does switch to mouse aiming, it only lasts a fraction of second and automatically switches back to mouse aiming off.
Also, it seems starting up SW.exe makes it try to connect to the internet. Why's that?

It doesn't actually connect to the net, rather it loads the Windows networking DLL on startup which I guess is enough for Windows' firewall to think it's trying to connect to the network. It's only when you play a netgame that anything actually happens with the network.

Only problem I've had is that the camera view that you use to get the key in the first level of the Shareware episode is a HOM, making the level unwinnable by legit means. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

but hey, good practice ! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'll mention a couple of things:
On the first level, in the room you enter with the gold key, there's a metal garbage can you can shoot to move towards a hidden panel up on the wall. That garbage can looks glitchy around the bottom of the image.
When I destroy the machine gun emplacement near the subway, the barrel is shown incorrectly. I believe this--and maybe the previous glitch-- may relate to the lack of voxels.

SW can still be played without voxels. in the original DOS version you can set it in the menu. and remember, there is still the same bug as seen in JFDUKE when you look extremely down the screen starts to glitch.

When I go to insert a sprite in SW's Build Editor, in a new board, the editor exits if it is, or as soon as I go into, 3D mode. However, in a loaded map with some sprites already inserted it's fine. I believe the error lies with the first default sprite that gets inserted in a new map, which I haven't seen but has this on it's label in 2D mode: '5:2,'. And that's a weird label from my knowledge! I checked it's low and high tags and they are set to 0. Weird, huh? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Until JonoF fixes it, go to your Gamecontroller Panel under System Management and make sure everything there (all controllers other than keyboard and mouse) are set to off. Then, it will work. As it is now, it doesn`t get along with any sort of joy-stick-pad-etc. Hopefuly, this will get fixed in the future.

For me, I tracked that down to my USB gamepad not being plugged in. Once I plugged in the gamepad, JFSW worked like it should.

Exactly what Swiss Cheeseman said. It's also mentioned in the readme.txt, as well as certain files that were included are marked as not from the Shadow Warrior source code.
Frank Maddin dug up as much as he could find, but in those days nobody around here intentionally kept 100% accurate source archives, especially long after the game was out and support had ended.
The code that Frank found had several files with almost the exact same content inside of them, but with different names and some slight changes. I had to make a best guess as to which one to use, and even then there isn't any guarantee that ANY of the included files were the ones they used to do the final 1.2 vesion with.
The one that is most scary and likely to cause subtle wierdness is that some files were missing entirely, so I dug into the Duke 3D source code for the similar files and used those in their place.

Yeah, i'm not aware of anywhere to buy it other than say ebay. I'm sure he just figured it had fallen into that abandonware grey area...
I wonder if those listed on eBay are legit, or if he's running off his own copies. I played the Blood shareware right when it was released, but I didn't bother to get the game until many years later. As a result, I missed out on Cryptic and the Plasma Pak. I don't care that much about the latter, but Cryptic looked cool and I expect I would enjoy it as much as I did Sunstorm's Duke It Out and Caribbean.

Wow..it shocks me to hear that you didn't care about the plasma pack :O :O
That was excellent and well worth owning :\
To be honest, I know little about the Plasma Pak. I just read a review on the Adrenaline Vault, and it does sound pretty interesting. I like the idea of a shopping center level. The Duke level in a grocery store was one of my favorites, so the same would probably be true for Blood. I guess I'll reinstall the game and see how it plays on my computer, and then start tracking this stuff down if all goes well.
Maren Gnawol

While fearing I could be digging too much into this offtopicness, the Plasma Pack was nice but I felt it kicked ass mostly for the weapon enhancements, the maps weren't as inspired and atmospheric as the CP ones.
Sir Lemonhead
04-03-2005, 08:01 PM
the plasma pack had more than new levels. There were new enemies(the little calebs that burst out of the broken mirrors was brilliant further ripping off of the evil dead series http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and new weapon firing modes.
It's been so long since I've actually played Blood without the plasma pack, so it's hard to think of what it adds, but it is DEFINITLY worth owning.

on the blood offtopic.
cryptic passage was super-neat, it had huge levels and great design, i wish they would have done another addon, it was great (except a few bugs with secret counts).
plasma pak was grim on the other hand, because apart from the new enemies and new firing modes, it recycled alot of levels from the floating-around blood alpha build of feb 96! check it out. that alone makes plasma worth it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
i always wondered why companies who almost abort their titles (fckng atari or whoeven owns blood right now after series of buying again and again?) don't like alphas or betas of games being, um... distributed. i don't see how it will harm the sales, especially in the blood case, which i think noone buys now. because the lack of support or something, fans are just forced to dig through the old stuff and find little and major differences - just because they don't have anything new on that game to toy with...

Level 18: Floating Fortress. There may be some problems with it though. The first time I went to it, I was in the middle of typing swtrek18 again (I didn't see the level name).
Anyway, while I was typing that, some of the baddies killed me. the game totally locked up, windows seemed to be sort of ok though.....so I tried to exit it.
Escape menu didn't work, alt tab / windows key didn't work. I pressed alt F4 and I got my mouse cursor....sort of....but anyway something was really messed up because eventually everything died and I had to reboot; when I got back Windows said it recovered from a serious error, like a BSOD or something (but it never showed one; or JFSW was on top of it). The only thing I can think might have started this chain of events is dying while typing (some sort of infinite loop?).
Got back to windows, went to lev 18 again. This time it didn't destroy everything, but after playing the level for a bit it just exited, wham right to desktop, no error message or anything.
Hope these details help a bit Jono http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yes, it was, as it had been requested by many people searching for it. I, however, did not intend to leave it there this long, I just kinda forgot about it. I understand how you feel as a developer about full content being openly available. It is a project has fallen into that grey area of abandonware (note SunStorm doesn't even have the demo available for download anymore and Wizard Works was aquired by Atari.... we all know what that means ). If it were available anywhere other than auction sites, it would never have been put up (props to 3DR for keeping their games alive past normal retail sales! And even more for releasing source to otherwise unsupported games! When are you guys going to take over Atari for us? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif ). The option to make the vertical axis of the mouse make you look up/down is not available in the setup. Disabling it's function will make it stop working entirely for me.
and the jerkyness happens on both axis with sudden movements.
Edit: Fixed it! The mouse acceleration was set to 4 and 2, setting both to 1 fixes any movement issues!

First of all, if you guys want to keep talking about Blood, how 'bout you do it in a different topic?! It's a great game, but this is not the place for it.
I "solve" the mouse aiming issue by assigning mouse-up to aim-up and mouse-down to aim-down. It's not perfect, but it's the best you're gonna get for now.

This is excellent! I'm so glad Shadow Warrior is now portable!
Two things to mention:
One thing, it sounds like the mouse thing is almost insignificant to you guys, whoa. To me, it's unplayable, so I turn the mouse off. But I know this is being corrected in the next release, so, it's cool.
Secondly, this may be dumb, but I'm going to mention it now. Have you guys noticed some sound weirdness? Sounds playback beautifully, and all work, but it seems like the wrong sounds... Load up and play through Seppuku Station, originally, there'd be freaky long drawn out "Howlooooooooo!!!!!" sounds. Now, they're replaced by the real quick "OWOW!!!!!" of a wounded enemy. I guess maybe the "howls" were actually the same sound, just stretched out a ton. - Still, if possible, I'd love to have that back, and working. The freaky howl sounds were part of what made the game's atmosphere!
Edit: Also, this may have been mentioned, but security moniters are HOMed in game.
If it sounds insignificant, it's only because it's not universal. The mouse is working fine for me. As for the sounds, the main thing I hear is what sounds like the monsters' "agitated" state being constantly active.

finally someone else noticed it besides me. it plays pain sounds instead of "roaming" sounds.

The "agitation" effect *might* be a side effect of having 32 sounds enabled instead of let's say, 8. I can't confirm as I'm not in front of my computer right now but you could switch to a lower number (in case you haven't) and let us know what happens.
I do have 32 voices activated. I'll try lowering that later.

Another bug, switching to 3rd person view(F7) the HUD weapon stays visible.
and a note on the camera wall, it works in 8bit classic mode, so it must be a OpenGL bug as mentioned in the Release notes. IIRC, JFDuke has a similar probem with the security monitors, when you start to back away from the security monitor, the camera should still be visible, but it's not:

Interesting, you put in the JF setup that you want mouse MOVING on, and then in-game you use the mouse AIMING option (default U) in order to use the in-game vertical mouse-aiming? That's a bit odd.....
Anyway, the mouse aiming as it currently stands, is about as good as what I suggested before, assigning mouseUp to aim up and mouseDown to aim down. I'm sure Jono will improve it.

I'm getting killed ridiculously easily by certain enemies..namely those green things who's head you can use as a weapon. Seems like 1 hit kill at times (sorry, I don't know Shadow Warrior that well http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
Parkar

It has always been to hard for me, never finnished the game even on the easiest skill.
yes, the cloaked ninja was insanely powerful, since he uses some weirdass "lots of fireballs" attack that seems to get you in most cases even if you try to run around, and it took off tons of hp and could easily push you off the cliff or something, that dude packs a great kick. green dudes aka the guardians were also kinda strong, so no problemo here...
as far as difficulty goes - i *did* beat shadow warrior on no pain no gain in the old dos/win98 times. in some cases i was so low on ammo that i had to use gas bombs, shadow bombs (invisibility + fist powah!) even those useless caltrops (for single play anyway), but it's manageable. i find it kinda easier than duke3d's max difficulty because enemies don't respawn.

The Guardian Head weapon (weapon 9) can actually shoot that "lots of fireballs" attack (3rd fire mode), and yes, it's VERY powerful (but uses tons of ammo). I don't recall the actual Guardians using it though.
The cloaked guys use that same attack. Yes, they're very hard; your best bet is to stay out of sight, and shoot something around the corner or pop out to shoot something explosive or use the riot gun then hide again.

shadow ninja's attack is similar but it's a bit different. yes he fires the same "3-sorta-explosions-flame-line" but also out of that line small green fireballs fly out sideways:
<--- | | --->
<--- | | --->
<--- | | --->
<--- | | --->
| | being the fire line
and < and > being fireballs.
that makes this attack cover a pretty big area....

I find myself agreeing with this statement. I think a lot of it is memorization, though -- I find Duke3D quite easy because I literally know where every enemy in the game is. SW on the other hand (which I never got a chance to play through fully but will soon) I find quite a bit more difficult.

I will beat it a soon as jfsw is stable enough and suports saveing. I even have trouble on the first map sometimes. But at the moment I blame that on the "iffy" mouse aim http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
I mostly played sw in multiplayer agains my brother and friend or two over modem. I realy need to dig out that map I made that we used to play on. It was not a great mp map in the normal way (way of balanced, way to big, way to much guns etc) but we had a blast sneaking around. Hearing the arming nuklear warhead ... and not knowing were your oponent were was frustating(in a good way). the fact that the nuke was on a small island in the middle of the map making you an easy target trying to get it was fun to. Ohh yea nad it had working surfing boards with small jet engines.

I remember having that problem with the original too. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Some of them would spring really quick like a mouse trap.

I thought Xatrix/Grey Matter did?
Yeah, so did I. Until someone from here told me otherwise ( Kristian Joensen
)
Some weeks ago when surfing Transfusion I also thought about a RR source release campaign.
Both Interplay and Xatrix are dead, condulences...
I was pondering of contacting Grey Matter - but they only show their FAX number, no eMail and stuff.
And this is kinda expensive from here, Germany.
Will any of you US guys phone / FAX them?!?
This would be nice.
MegaMustaine said:That sounds about right. RR was a hard game to sell IMO. Although I still like the game. It is a good game that is over shadowed by the three bigger build games, SW, D3D, and Blood.
But then, why the heck is there an AddOn and a "sequel"/AddOn for RR, whereas for SW, there isn't?!?
I can't imagine it sold that less... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I put Win98 onto the laptop of my darling, and on some other boxes as well, just for having RR in COOP back again, last week. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I loved the veeery big levels (comparing to SW, B, D3D), and the cool "reality" atmosphere...
For me, jFRedneck would be the icing on everything.
Okay, and for deathmatch: jFBlood (the proximity dynamite and the skull where hot like hell)
BTW: Was ROTT a BUILD-game, too?!? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Not really, was it?!

I got my copy of Blood off GameTZ (http://gametz.com/). They mainly trade games but some people sell as well. There's also an abandonware site that has Blood with Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage for a 30MB download. The game is not the same without the CD music though.
You're right. The MIDI's are no match for the CD music...
I'm getting an error in the log file that doesn't have a noticeable effect on the game. It's trying to load DEFS.CON, but I don't have that file. Should it be there? If so, should I grab a copy off my SW disc?

SW doesn't use CON files.

in blood's case, some of cd tracks weren't made as midis but alot of midi tracks aren't on the cd. so in blood, both choises are awesome.

Just before we get back on topic http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif :
Has anyone found a way to get the blood cd tracks to loop within a level ?
No matter what i do to the settings each track will play once for each level and then stop - where as the midi tracks loop continuosly.

{Crash Bomb}
This happens a lot when I throw a sticky bomb, at a certain sprite. Here's the steps..
{Crash Bomb Guide}
First, as always, I start Shadow Warrior, fix the brightness so it's maximum (but yet still dark compared to the starting brightness), then I go to the very first level, of the Shareware Episode.
I sometimes either choose the 3rd or 2nd difficult skill, then type SWCHAN, then SWGIMME, and after killing the enemies, and seeing the bus blow up the Ninja. I walk out and select the Sticky Bomb, I go to the last coin-placer thingy that's near the car. And also near the door to the Baggage Claim (well, after getting off Lo Wang's dojo, just go totally right. Your right.)
After that, throw the sticky bomb at the coin-placer thing, and presto! Crashing game bomb.

what version of the game do you have?
i remember playing blood and it constantly looped cd trax
Just got the jfsw thing and as well as encoutering the problems allready menchioned, I also noticed that I now have Shurikens instead of those darts. I have allready noticed the difference in how they attack.
But that save and loading problem is really ennoying.
I have not read all the posts in this thread so I don't know if it's been solved or not.

It's not a problem but a feature disabled for the first release.

The only difference between the shurikens and the darts is the artwork, as I recall. The darts were not in the original game, only in a version modified to get around the bullshit laws in the UK.
Why the hell is there laws about shurikens?

Ive noticed a bug with weapon 0 the heart when using them in code of honor episode level 1 rising something it can sometimes crash the game ("sw.exe") and return to windows.

What's the sound setting I should use? Seems that JFSW doesn't autodetect my sound settings for me and I have to manually adjust the sound settings, none of which so far seemed to work for me... (I use SOUNDMAX.)
Great work, BTW, Jonathan. I wish you every success with this mod -- and hope I'll eventually be able to play it... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I havn't been keeping a track of JFsw so I am asking - has JFsw had it's second release yet with working save and load games?

JFShadowWarrior (http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/?p=jfsw) has just been updated. It now has save-game support. I had hoped to get multiplayer going for this release but that would have held things up for even longer, so I'll release an update with multiplayer in the near future. The game should be quite stable now.
Let me know of any problems, and have fun.

Working save games! Fixed CD music! Smooth mouse aim! You sir, kick so much ass! The only problems I'm encountered with this release so far was finding a download location that had updated their links yet. The screens still don't work but, except for the episode 1 key, that's pretty minor. I haven't tested out the ripper heart to see if it still can crash the game yet.
Ahh, yes! I will finally be able to play through again, thanks to the saves. Thanks, Jonof.
By the way, is there a way to have the game use my E: drive for CD audio?

The ingame music sound level adjustment is greyed out and not working - maybe you just missed something because the slidebar works ok in the cd audio quick fix previously put out by Arkion.
I guess the only way now is via an edit of the sx.cfg file. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hehe - at least I hadn't missed something. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Further testing and the new port works great - but joystick still wanders -(like it did temporarily with an earlier jfduke release) - I tried cut and pasting my jfduke joystick configs to no avail - I guess the two games aren't compatible with their joystick input.
woot! Great work, finally the save game is working.
Two things I noticed:
-When closing the game, it doesn't shut down completely, I still have to kill it from task manager. (winxp)
-setting texture brightness in build doesn't work :/

Hey there´s another solution: Why don´t you try finishing your OGG Vorbis support stuff for your JF ports? Would eliminate all the problems at once. We could just make Oggs from the CD tracks, and tada. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

HAHA 300k? What a waste :P The game/addons were great, but there's no future in the series!
If anyone has trouble downloading the new JFSW, I've made it available here:

On a vaguely-related note, the latest Mapster, which isn't available on its own anymore, only with eDuke32 is there too:

Everything seems to be working fine, thanks!
One note:
I have an Audigy 2. I have my main optical drive attached to it with the 2 pin CD-digital connector. The four pin cd-audio connector goes to my burner, but since I don't play music from it I mute that connection in the 'Surround Mixer' contol. Doing so removes a faint hiss I hear at higher volume levels.
However the CD music in the game did not work until I unmuted the cd-audio (the connector attached to a drive the cd was not in). The cd digital was unmuted the whole time. Using the play button on the front of the drive produces sound if cd-digital is enabled regardless of what the cd-audio is set to.
Therefore I believe it could be a quirk in the game. I don't consider this a bug, because it may just be weirdness from Creative's software/drivers. I am posting this mailny for people who have similar hardware to have a fix, rather than to complain.
