That's very cool. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I would never just throw out an old computer without trying to donate it somewhere.

Damn you! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif
Not a bad machine. It replaced a superior one when it came out in '91, but that hardly matters now. Should be able to run some neat stuff. Throwing out treasures like this should be punishable by death.
Here's a page somewhat like what you posted, but with more info and ideas on what to do with it:

Now that had some intresting programs on it. Microsoft Works, Pacman and tons of other freeware Mac games on my LCII.
Unfortinly my Classic 2 has nothing http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif That's the first computer I ever used, back in the early 90s.

Looks really cool... Did you see if you could find some games for it on EBay? You may find some kick @$$ software that may run with that from there, if you wanted it...
That really WAS NOT meant to be a throw-away investment for sure. I mean, a PC or Mac should last at least 5 years give or take as far as using the best of it. I mean, although a PC or Mac may go obsolete and you may be using a new one, there will still be uses for your older machines, let's not deny that. That was a really dumb decision to throw it out on a curb lawn like that.
If you start keeping your PC for a long, long time, even if you buy a new one, you can still find ways to use ones that you've owned in the past, or donate them to churches, schools, non-profit organizations, sell it on EBay for someone who isn't really looking for that high-end PC, something like that, but toss it in the garbage? That's completely idiotic, and that is the wrong way to dispose of a PC.
Dell offers free service to recycle old PCs if you buy a new PC from them, and if your PC needs to be tossed out, just check that option from them and have them do it the right way. That's my advice. Some PC and electronic companies do offer services like that to take your old PC and recycle it properly, same thing with TV sets (CRTs or Plasmas), or any other electronic item like that.

Please...why does everyone refer to Macintosh as a Media Access Code? It never was, nor will ever be, all caps.

Reminds me of my old NEC Ready Desktop from back in 1998/1999. It was a PII 350 MHz w/ 64 MB RAM, 8 GB HDD (could fit the whole hard drive onto a DL DVD+R/RW if I tried before burning the old HD in the fireplace), speaking of which, it did have a DVD-ROM on it, one of the first I've ever had with DVD reading capabilities. It was a Windows 98 PC, having a modem, and some useful software, it was nice for a little while, the tower clunky old mammoth dinosaur thing, too. Way bigger tower than any of the other PCs I've ever had, this one included.
Of course, NEC's not selling PCs in the open market anymore like they used to. I believe that they merged w/ Packard Bell (Hewlett- Packard, Packard Bell, were they related?). Meh, NEC was good, but they weren't good enough with the rest of the PC market, I suppose. They weren't very upgradable PCs, either, everything was all integrated junk, just goes to show ya how PCs were back before the more open architecture came along.

Reminds me of my old Tiger Direct PC back in 1998-2002. It was a sweet PC, proabably my favorite i ever had. It was and AMD K6-2 400mhz, 5gb hdd, 128mb SDRAM, Win98, then ME, then XPhome, 3Dfx Vodoo of some sort. Sweet PC, great for its day, and actually, not bad if it was still around today, good for DOS game w/ windows ports and OpenGL. But of course, it was so freakin heavy. I miss that ol' thing...

I remember my keyboarding class had a room full of Mac Classics, 2 Classic IIs, and 1 SE/30.
Everybody always fought over the II's and the SE/30 because they were the only ones that were fast enough to be faster than you typed in a fully featured (at the time) word processor such as Word.
Man I hated the keyboards that came with them... and all Mac keyboards for that matter.
So having used machines similar to that for a few years, I agree with TerminX, throw it back in the trash. Those things are pretty much the only reason I needed to know SOS.

Sounds about right. The Classic was 8Mhz (in 1990...wtf?), and the Classic II and SE/30 were 16. Not to mention the golden rule: Schools buy the shittiest Macs. The Classic, the LC series, the iMac G3... my schools had all of 'em.
As for the keyboards...the Classic I think came with a keyboard with arrow keys. Sound about right? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mryuck.gif Apple had normal keyboards too, but only a few people bought them (they were expensive). Other than that most of Apple's keyboards are quite ok (save the old iMac keyboard)....
