How do you start Duke off with no weapons?

Anybody? Thank you.

Make sure Duke starts off on the "HurtRail" texture. (The texture is on the seat of the electric chair in E1L3). There may also be a way to edit the CON files to allow this, but I wouldn't have any idea how.

Another idea:

Where you have pointed your Start Point. (you know, you can place it with Scroll Lock from 2d Mode).
Make a (very small) sector under the starters point, raise it so you can't see there's a sector under it from 3d (well, ofcourse you still can, but not that good). Now.. give the ground of the "small sector" the Lava texture 1082. And voila, you will not get hurt by it and Duke will start weaponless.

or you can make Duke start in a sector with any of these textures, and put a SE 7 raised off the floor to make Duke fall when starts the level, and make the SE 7 will transport he to another sector where duke will "really" start the playing the level

bye

I've pulled something like this before and it worked well:

Make the main room where Duke wants to start, then make a small sector (big enough for him to fit in) that is totally separate from the start room. Make the small sector Duke's true start position. Change every wall, the ceiling, and the floor black (palette 4). Change the floortile to hurtrail. Place a sector effector with a lo- of 7 and an unused hi-. Then place another sector effector where you originally wanted Duke to start with a lo- of 23 (must have atomic edition) and the same hi- as the previous sector effector. If any health is lost on your test run of the level, put a small health kit where Duke "starts."

Alejandro, exactly what I came up with, and it works great, and you can make Duke fall through a series of sectors to add screams and other effects before you actually start the game.

Some of us are just young, some of us are pretty old. I say no question is dumb if you don't know the answer. images/icons/wink.gif

My experience has been: Ask once and get an answer, your ignorance is forgotten. Ask twice and your remembered. The third time you're on your own. images/icons/grin.gif
