It has to be either silver or white. Flat screen preferably if its just as bright as non flat screen and glares a lot less.
I mainly need a new one to play old Dos FPS games (like duke 3d, doom 1/2, hexen, heretic, shadow warrior, wolf 3d, etc.) that displays them brightly without having to turn up the contrast.
My current monitor works fine for windows, but it's just dull when it comes to playing FPS dos games. Please help me pick out a good one. Here's 2 choices I already have:
This one: http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=A73526&src=PG
Or this one: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-184-018&depa=0
I warn you, cheap flat CRT monitors look WAY worse than regular CRT monitors. If you want a good flat CRT monitor, you must expend at least $180.
Buy a normal 17" CRT; you'll get a better monitor, and cheaper, too. Nowadays CRT's arent soo round to need a flat one.

Mag - Proview make the worst monitors that Best Buy carries. Stay away... far far away.

- I have an older model at home, it has served my family well. Also it outlasted a viewsonic that was bought at the same time.

does retail mean used or not used? or has it been opened "out of the box" but not been used? If so how safe is it to order one?
But all the reviews are 5 stars so maybe this is a good one.

Retail typically means in the box.

Well it looks as if it is no longer available on Newegg, if I were you I would either buy that Envision or take a step up and get the samsung that was previously mentioned.

How about trying Tiger Direct or Amazon for the Envision monitor? They may sell one in brand new condition at about the same price as NewEgg, and they could be in stock there. It wouldn't hurt to try. Otherwise, I would say that Samsung monitor, or a Trinitron would be your two best bets, or wait, Trinitrons are usually more, aren't they?

LCD isn't worth it in my opinion. I have a fry's near me, is that a pretty good place to go for monitors? Well, now I can afford $140 for a monitor.

If you happen to be in Los Angeles, I highly recommend the LA Computer Fair (http://www.lacomputerfair.com/) in Pomona. $90 can net you a used 21" Sony Trinitron CRT with a 90 day warranty. I got one last year and I love it.
