Does EDuke allow more sectors/sprites/walls than 1.5?
than Mapster?
than SSTtc?

Currently it doesn't.

Theoretically the maximum is 65535 sectors, for a short word and a bit marker (-1 or 65535 unsigned) for any build game compiled with the current source of which only one example currently exists (NWIV).
It would probably be possible to increase to a 32bit word for the level data if you altered the variable definitions.

Why would SSTTC be special in anyway at all from 1.5?

Damn I hate this. I was finally about to post a serious reply on this and I was typing for like 5 minuts, then my internet got down and now I come back and I see someone has already done it for me and my message did not got posted images/icons/frown.gif

werent Starship Troopers TC suppossed to have more sectors, 'cause was patched with OpenGL Build Touch or something?
Kef, if you still can post, DO; 'cause I didn't understand much of cyborg's post images/icons/confused.gif ... sorry

To say it in small and easy lines:

- SSTTC and Mapster don't have a bigger sector limit.
- Eduke doesn't have a bigger sector limit either. It includes Makemap.exe which is Rednack Rampage's build and you dont have more options with this (only a bigger map size which means you can make your map much bigger (the rooms) but not more sectors) and you have smaller grids than in the normal build (the same grids as in Mapster).

Hmm well, this is it I think.

And yes, it IS possible to use more than 1024 sectors but not just as a usermap for Duke3d, you should modify the build engine and make a build-stand-alone game like New World 4 did.

Hope you understand it a little bit better now images/icons/grin.gif

OpenGL Build Touch can open maps with any limit and create them with any limit. This doesn't mean any Build game would actually be able to use a map created in this way, nor would you use OpenGL Build Touch to do this.
The program is simply designed to allow more detailed editing of the map format.

Christ, it wasn't exactly explaining quantum physics.

It's not worth it cyborg.... anyways.

Eduke 2.0 does not have increased numbers... Eduke 2.1 does. Um... over 16,000 for everything if I remember correctly.

Just can't help myself, but I came up with a "cheat" for this one. If you're making a bunch of same sectors, like desks in an office, then try join them and the engine will count them as one! I got a cathedral I am working on and it's got a s**t load of pews, all just a couple of sectors. images/icons/grin.gif

Oooky-Dooky, I'm sure I didn't invent it, just nobody told me about it. graemlins/dopefish.gif Hey, I keep trying.

YOU came up with a Cheat gnagna! That's just hilarious! That's just a normal thingey. And well.. yeah. You have to watch out with joining sectors.. it could screw up your whole map and you can't unjoin! So:
1) Do it good.
2) Don't do it.
or 3) do it when you've done almost everything and think you need more sectors.

Maps such as Bobsp1 could have been 3 times bigger if he had joined these sectors.. so telling us he was "out of sectors" is a kind of lame excuse images/icons/smile.gif
