The Hijacked Site, the Puzzle in the source code, the links to the Search engines.. the whole thing STINKS of a Prey-based Alternate Reality game.
A 3DR ARG would be incredible, given their record of fantastic storytelling...

Don't know what an ARG is? Here:

(an Example of an ARG would be the Recent ilovebees.com debacle.)

Also, there's a Chatroom regarding the Prey site at irc://irc.chat-solutions.org:6667/prey

NOTE:

PC Gamer did an Article on Alternate Reality gaming LAST ISSUE.

Makes you wonder if they did that just to prepare us..

What I'm curious on why it links to Altavista and not Google. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif

Isn't it possible to buy a higher placing in altavista ?

I would urge everyone interested to join the IRC channel.

They wouldn't waste good IP on an ARG game (If I understand what ARG is, that is). They ARE using viral marketing, if that's all your saying. As I understood it, ilovebees was just a form of viral marketing, but maybe I'm wrong.

Prey is going to be a Doom3 engined 3D shooter, there's no doubt about that...

I doubt it's an ARG actually. If it was it would reward searching for clues, which it doesn't.
