since the engine is already there?
of course they can adapt things here and there, but, the overall engine is there...
what else needs to be done? only content?
maybe it will be released before DNF http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah that's not saying much. Remember DNF? Its engine was "already there" too. Some of the other threads have speculations on the "when". They say 3DR's policy is around 6 months priming?

That's what Joe said in a DNF thread..

The game has already been in development since late 2001.

the doom 3 engine wasn't there then

Yes, but it wasn't finished the game has been in development in parralel with the engine. I bet 3DR/Human Head have diverged quite a bit from Id's modifications to the engine. Doom 3 itself was also developed along side its engine. it was finished early last year.

Well I don't think their official policy is that, it's just what Joe or someone said. I also remember Joe saying that they would be even more secretive about their next game and only unveil it when it's near completion. But I think 6 months would be a good time frame to get the hype going. Being the cover story of PC Gamer is always a good start.

George said it several times and Scott to, they also practiced this policy with Max Payne 2.

It wasn't finished then. But it existed.

We'll talk more about this stuff in the future, once the PC Gamer article hits.

Cool, thanks.
I've waited 6 years for DNF, but waiting another few weeks for some Prey info seems unbearable.

I can't wait, I am probaply the most impatient person in the world yet I have patiently waited for DNF for 6-7 years.

Are we likely to get a release date in June or is it gunna be WID. I'm not asking for a release date here just will we get to know in the article or should I just STFU and wait. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did they give Max Payne 2 a release date ?

I really have no idea. Smoking weed every day has reduced my memory span to something similar to a goldfish, thus the need to ask questions with potentially obvious answers.

Yes, I think they gave Max Payne 2 a release date, but I'm too lazy to check.
Kristian Joensen

Then the question becomes, did it stick.
FireFly
04-17-2005, 04:41 PM
Yes it did.

Do you mean this quote: " Max Payne 2 is expected to ship in calendar 2003. "
That is rather vague.

No, I mean this. (http://www.pcgameworld.com/story.php/id/2264/)
Sure it was only announced a month before release, but it's still a release date.
Kristian Joensen

Are you sure that was not in connection with it going gold ?
FireFly
04-17-2005, 05:13 PM
Yes, it went gold on October 6th.
Kristian Joensen
04-17-2005, 05:17 PM
Ehh, don't games usaully take one month from going gold to its release ?
Ronstar

Well, first signs of 'Prey' under HumanHeads development could be seen in DeadManHands, eh? Maybe it doesn't last so long...;)

How great would it be if both DNF and Prey went gold a month after the June PCG issue went out? Thousands of Duke fans would be walking around in a daze with a big wide grin on their faces and 'outsiders' would be wondering what we just got done smoking and/or who we just laid.
