Anybody hear any of SOAD's new stuff on the radio, tv or otherwise? It's great stuff http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif The only songs I've heard off their new album (i don't even believe its released yet) are Cigaro and BYOB (Bring Your Own Bombs). Great songs \o/

Ha. Well...SOAD is still a metal band, and the screaming is for those metal heads who love going to the concerts and jumping/thrashing around, moshing. It's actually quite fun! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Ofcourse, the screaming in metal represents the pissed off side of ones personality, and hence they feel like screaming.

Cigaro is cool, and B.Y.O.B. is one of their best songs, IMO.
(The album will be released on May 17, and there should be a video for B.Y.O.B. by the end of this month.)

Yeah, of course! I can understand if someone dislikes it, but I have always been a sucker for screamed/shouted vocals.

Thats my favorite line in the song, because its true.
Also try and find Holy Mountain, that is a great song. Dont think its going to be on Mesmerize. Hypnotize probably will have that song, but the live version is floating around the net.

I like that song too, but on the live version I have, the guy talking (lead singer i suppose) sounds like hes wasted and has no clue what hes talkin about.

I like it. Well, it's alright. I'd like it a lot more if the camera actually lingered in one place for more than a second. The quick cutting from one angle to another fits the rapid/schizo style the song has, though.

After listening to the rest of the album, I must say this is a good piece of work. Only problem is, half the songs sort of sound the same, with their crazy hijinks and political references. Serj is still a crazy mofo though.

For Mesmerize, my favorites, right now, would have to be B.Y.O.B., Cigaro, Revenga and Radio/Video.
I'm not sure I like the others that much, but they aren't bad, and the lyrics are good. I'm just not sure I like their sound too much. I have a hunch they'll probably grow on me, though.

I just saw SOAD on Saturday Night Live last night, playing BYOB and afew old songs.
I've gotta say...i'm getting annoyed of their guitarist. He has such a high pitched voice and whenever Serj is doing some beautiful singing work Daron (the guitarist) is doing the backup vocals everytime, and it sounds different. He is singing WAY too much for his own good; keep Serj as the singer.
Although, whenver they played Aerials, Serj was playing guitar! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif And he kicked ass. When they played BYOB he didnt play guitar, and Daron messed up twice when singing and playing the guitar at the same time. He screwed up the chorus http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif The best part.
Serj played better when he played on Aerials.

I'm not denying the fact that Kurt was playing a lot of times on the influence of substances, but from the Live Videos I've seen, it looks damn good to be at one.

If you don'y like SOAD then stay out of the thread, not too hard and it avoids a flame war.
As for the album, I've only heard it once at my friends house, but Radio/Video is my favorite. It's excellent.

I liked the new album, but I hate the vocals. Let the singer sing. I didn't pay $15 to hear second rate vocals over about 80 percent of the album.
I'm also not a fan of the lyrical content. They have an annoying habit of continually repeating the same lines over and over again.
Still, I'm not trashing SoaD. Like I said, I like the new album, but it doesn't hold up for me. I'm listening to the new Audioslave now, and haven't thought of listening to SoaD in a few days.

maybe so, but I just got their new album and it's pretty sweetly polished crap then!
I really love it, though I personally feel they strained a bit too far from the "original" sound of SOAD.
besides that, it's worth getting.
