I really don't have a favorite actor. But right now my favorite performance is...
Jimmy Stewart
It's a Wonderful Life
I spent just about every weekend of my life in Notasulga, AL. It's as small as it sounds. Anyway, it was pretty behind the times, so it felt a lot like a late 50s small town. Everyone knew everyone else. And I got a good dose of the culture that surrounds It's a Wonderful Life.
This is a wonderful movie where folks aren't dark, cynical or insulting (Not that I don't like dark, cynical or insulting). They treat each other with a deal of respect and class.
Stewart plays Bailey perfectly. A man who's every bit the living embodiment of the culuture, but also has a deep lust to leave it and establish his own identity. I could go on and on. It's a powerful film, even if it does have a cheesy angel premise.

My favorite perfomance, as of now, would have to be Christian Bale's performance in the film The Machinist.
