No, I am not talking about the games. For those 3DR employees that are involved with both game: which do you enjoy more, developing a game (DNF) or producing a game (PREY)?
In my younger years I would have taken development anyday. Now I'd rather keep things moving. So for me, being involved (from 3DR's view) in Prey would be more fun. How do you guys feel about it?

I cannot comment since I do not work directly or indirectly w/ 3dr.

Then he probably wasn't talking to you http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I think you answered the question yourself. It's up to each person. Some like to create (mostly when you're young), and some like to produce.
Personlay I was a creator first, then you develop and learn more about the process and you often lose some of the creativity and you start to like the whole process.
Reminds me of I have two projecst I have to finish in one week. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mryuck.gif
I like it as much as I hate it *lol. I have problems to finish/kill off project unless they're 100% done. I'm rarely 100% satisfied.

Your topic title is somewhat misleading, and there are only a very select few who can give an actual answer, and they won't, because then the internet journalists will "George said he enjoyed working on Prey more than DNF."

Produce. You get to sit on your ass and tell other people what to do. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Sure, but 3DR is so good at producing games, I am curious why they don't take this path more often. They could produce a couple of games at a time working with other developers. And 3DR has a wealth of experience in game production that most developers would kill for.
A game developer can't get much better than being backed by 3DRs production skills.

It would be nice to get the forum's perspective as well.

Sad but true.

I agree, so maybe 3dr should have had a outside producer of DNF. This so a person with clear eyes, that's not directly involved with the game could take decitions and so on.
I think it in some way help more to be not so much involved in a game that you're producing.
Both good and bad. Anyway they should have one internal producer then one or more producers outside 3dr that could look at the process at large. It's very easy to stare blind if you're in the middle/on top of things http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I dont agree w/ having someone else create DNF while 3DR produces... They did Duke3d so they should as do DNF as well... Stick w/ what works http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think if you love a game... and want it to turn out okay.. then you need to develop and produce...
If you only see the game from 1 point of view.. it would be a disaster IMO..
