land of the dead (http://www.landofthedeadmovie.net/)

I'm really shocked I didn't see this anywhere else.

The trailer is cool, except for the rehashed Resident Evil music. I know it was rushed because the release date was bumped from October to June, but it could have done without the Manson score.

Check it out guys.

Romero is a god and the Dead series is easily my favorite all-time movies.

Get's a big Meh from me.

Fast cuts, bad generic music, driving around in enforced cars, explosions and the words "ultimate masterpiece" just make it seem like any other zombie movie.

Never had that much respect for Romero anyways. Haven't seen the first one, which is supposedly the best. But Dawn and Day are pretty efficient repellents from me to go out and see Night. They were just bad.

Well, okay...Dawn was still watchable and I guess in some level I enjoyed it.

Still hard to believe there's actually gonna be a new Romero zombie moving coming out. It just seems too good to be true....but it is. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dopefish.gif

Cool trailer/teaser --- I especially liked the build up of the beginning half.

So this is like the fifth zombie movie in less than two years? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

I think I must be the only person on the planet who thought that the Dawn of the Dead remake is far superior to the original. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I liked the remake. I was hoping they would remake all of them.

the first got remaked in the 90s, and it's worth watching.

You're batshit insane. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The "remake" (I use the term loosely) isn't a bad film. Just totally inconsequential.

When compoared to the original the remakes of Night and Dawn pale in comparison. But judged on thier own each make a good zombie film.

Just my thoughts.

Give em enough time I'm sure (sadly) that a remake of Day will show up.

Yeah, the whole retrofitted armour'ed car is overdone. And from the trailer it appears to have one.

I agree. Maybe not far superior, but I enjoyed it more.

I guess you just had to live back then when the originals came. With all the social commentary and the mall being a new thing back then. Zombies in a mall = malls as amusement centres making people brain dead? Dunno really. It's just like an airplane to me, flies over my head high and fast http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I have to agree with Paroxysm here, but I do however consider it a bad film (just a friggin popcorn flick). I'm just glad that it managed to get Land greenlighted.

Why people insist on pissing all over my favorite cult classic horror movies with half-assed shitty remakes I will never know..

Well I saw the remake before the original. I enjoyed the remake (one of my favourite movies of 2004), and everyone was saying how much better the original was, so when I saw it I was pretty disappointed.

I just saw Land of the Dead tonight. I thought it was great, Romero still has talent.

Saw it last night. Pretty disappointing. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Mainly because last week a reviewer on the radio was raving about it saying it's a "hilarious horror-comedy", but I found it neither scary nor funny. The "scary" parts were pretty predictable. (Gee, I wonder if a zombie will jump out of that booze fridge?) There were a couple of bits that made me laugh (early on in the movie), but the rest of the audience didn't even laugh at those parts. By that logic, I thought it was funnier than the rest of the audience did. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

Riley was the only likable character, so I didn't really care what happened to anyone else. Dennis Hopper is one of the best actors to come out of Hollywood, and here he's hardly given anything to do. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

There were so many promising ideas in this movie (sky-flowers http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) but I just thought the whole thing was a wasted opportunity. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

But there was one line that I liked...
"That's 'good' shooting. There's no such thing as 'nice' shooting."
I liked how the movie kinda stopped to point that out.

I saw it last night. Twas okay.

Edit: I found the zombie woman that was always standing next to the black zombie hilarious...I dunno if that was purposely funny or not.

Paroxysm, I respect your opinion, so could you kindly explain why you liked this movie? I felt like it didn't do the poster (with millions of zombies on it) justice. Its just a group of the most uninteresting zombies ever filmed (they didn't feel like a swarm of mindless carnage as they should be) stumbling around. The big black zombie was the worst zombie i've ever seen, he wasn't scary at all, and the way he "learned" looked retarded. I'll give, that was funny at least.

It felt like Romero wanted to make the biggest dead movie yet, but the shot composition made things look very plain, it rushed through the story without much emphasis on anything, and the acting was laughable.

That's perhaps your biggest problem in accepting the film and the exact same thing that causes the downfall of the characters in the fillm.

Since when have any night of the living dead films been scary? They're far too saterical to be genuinely dread worthy. I'm heading off now but I'll discuss what I enjoyed about the film more later if you'd like.

LOTD kicked ass, so did Shaun of the Dead (Romero was impressed with SOTD, hence the cameo). Also, 28 Days Later is one of my favorite movies.

28 days later is good although didn't really explore any new ground. That's fine though.
Shawn was simply an excellent remake of Dawn really(just with extra comedy http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif ). Much more of a remake than the actual remake was at least.
Land is a continuation and new exploration of the already established conventions and themes.

I haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, but I haven't heard anyone say a single bad thing about it, so I want to check it out. I liked the first half of 28 Days Later, but it all seemed to fly apart in the second half. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Like i've said elsewhere, I think the movie goes over my head, but i'd love to have it explained to me so I can sound really smart when my girlfriend calls it a shitfest (which I feel I have to rectify, just because http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)
