Awesome, this looks so good. Come October 14, I dare say every right minded englishman will be filling into their local cinema for this. Can't wait now.

That Tom Baker voice over just feels right aswell.

I remember watching the shorts years ago.

Lets see...
There was the one about the robot pants, one about an evil penguin, one about an evil penguin and the robot pants, and I think one where they wanted to go to the moon. It has been too long.

We watched the one with the robotic pants in school for our Christmas Latin Surprise. It wasn't good and it wasn't in Latin. It's not really funny, I can't figure out why some people like this cartoon?

Well, admittedly it is a very particular type of humour - maybe it helps if your British. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I also just love the quality of the animation, Aardman are the best as this kind of stuff, all the touches and details are pure genuis. They always seem to go after the type of stuff you just shouldnt do in stop motion animation (ie the rain in chicken run) , just to prove that it can be done, and done well. I spotted a two in the trailer alone.

Yeah, looks like that's the problem.

Eddy told me on MSN he loved Wallace and Gromit but hated Family Guy, I thought he must be insane, but he was only British. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

I was joking man don't take it the wrong way. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

In the robotic pants one there were some good moments, but mostly, it wasn't really that good.

Just to confirm matters :

A grand day out : Wallace and Gromit run out of cheese, so they travel to the moon because they beleive its made of cheese, but they encounter a rather nasty robot.

The wrong trousers : Wallace invents some self walking trousers, but unfortunatly a recently escaped penguin nicks the controls and uses the trousers for criminal activity

A close shave : This one was longer than the others. Involved a sheep called shaun, and a rather nasty metal bulldog, but I don't remember much else about it.

There were also 10 1-minute shorts called 'Cracking conventions' I missed these, and obviously they will never get released on DVD http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

The new movie is going to be called Wallace and Gromit meet the Ware Rabbit, or something like that, there was a trailer before HHg for it. It looks great and due out in the autumn.

I don't know if the dvd ever came out of the shorts? I seem to remember someone saying they had a copy but I've never seen them.

I gotta agree, too. Family Guy is crap. But that's not what this thread is about. It's about W&G.

Hell, I loved the Wallace & Gromit videogame that came out a couple of years ago (Project Zoo). I got to see the third W&G short in the theatres, which was very cool. \o/

Info on the mini's that were shown ('Cracking Contraptions') can be found here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/spl/hi/entertainment/02/wallace_and_gromit/front_page/html/default.stm) and you can watch the first mini, but for some reason not the rest of them. Its pretty amusing but doesn't seem to be up to the standard of 'A close shave' or 'The wrong trousers'. Enjoy!

Actually, they were "techno trousers, ex NASA" to quote Wallace.

I'm going tonight to check it out. I rarely go and pay full price for movies at night, but with a baby, you can't always pick the optimal time to get discounts. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, I've been a W&G fan for ages. I actually managed to see the third short (A CLose Shave) on a movie screen when it was brand new as part of an animation film festival. Was quite cool seeing W&G on the big screen.

I specifically DID NOT want to wait for a DVD.

W&G isn't something that's usually on the big screen, and I didn't want to pass that up.

I just got back from seeing it. Don't have time to write alot about it, but I definitely enjoyed it.

Say that reminds me, didn't Joe have an avatar of the Duke Nukem 3D cover art depicting Wallace in the role of Duke Nukem? I don't know for sure, but i remember seeing Joe's avatar and thinking "how on earth did they do that? It looked really well done.

Just curious about the origin of that avatar.

Yeah they were. I've got them all on DVD with the Creature Comforts film as a bonus feature.

It's "Cracking Contraptions".

http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/10/aardman.fire/index.html

That one says no one was hurt. It was more than Wallace & Gromit. The entire Aardman archives. Creature Comforts, Chicken Run, the first three W&G shorts (plus presumably CC as well. Nick Park had a good quote about it, said "While this is a tragedy for us personally, it pales in comaprison to things like the Asian Earthquake" (I'm paraphrasing here).

And BTW, the link I posted was for a DVD with the three shorts and Cracking Contraptions.

Zztx

Just read about the fire elsewhere.

Wallace and Gromit's creator, Nick Park, said the earthquake in South Asia helped put the loss into perspective.

"Even though it is a precious and nostalgic collection and valuable to the company, in light of other tragedies, today isn't a big deal," he said.

I have a LOT of respect for a guy who can look it at that way so soon.

Granted, he's probably thinking "Aw, ****in' bloody hell!" somewhere in his mind, but being able to put those other events before his own loss is something.
