Thinking of getting this game.... But not sure how good the xbox version is. Anyone know? Btw, my PC is a 933mhz 128 megs of RAM, and a Geforce 2 GTS with 64 megs of DDR RAM.

Which would be better for me to pick up? Xbox or PC version?

I recommend the Xbox version. I'm assuming you're talking about the original Max Payne. MP2 looks nicer on PC, but even if you're getting MP2, your Xbox can probably do a better job of running it than your Ge-Force 2 equiped system.

I played the MP1 demo on Xbox. Graphics are top notch, and the only difference I noticed was that the levels are cut into smaller pieces which results in a lot shorter load times. The controls are great, and it works great altogether.

If you ever get any of the Max Payne games, get em on XBox or PC. I used to have MP1 on PS2, and it took 30 seconds to load every time you die. XBox and PC load in a split second. I heard MP2 on PS2 loaded worse. Around a minute. The levels were also divided into more parts on ps2, and the game just didn't look as good as the others.

1 main reason to not buy the console versions of MP2 is that "RMD didn't convert it". So you can figure out that it would be near to bull. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif

I don't knwo what all that hostility is about. The Xbox version plays pretty damn well, other than the more loads due to less amounts of memory in the thing.

PS2 isn't as good, but that's a limitation of that platform.

Definedly Xbox version, no doubt about it. They are both damn fine; In fact after playing both versions I digged the Xbox ports better, mainly because of the controller. That 3rd person action works great. Also Xbox MP2 supports widescreen.

There is one funny detail about MP1 Xbox port though; Remember that MicroSoft-joke near the ending? It's removed from Xbox version http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wouldnt go for the Xbox version but seeing as most of your specs are low it means that you may find it more favourable than upgrading your system/compramising video quality[but i would still go PC in that case].

if it's max payne 1, go for PC because I think you can run it (don't know system requirements out of my head)
if it's MP2, your PC can't handle it, so go for the xbox

I had a 400MHz AMD-K6 3 with a Geforce2MX (64MB) with 128MB RAM.
MP1 ran fine, but I guess most features where set to LOW.
But it can't handle MP2.

I never played the XBOX version, because I dont own a XBOX (or PS2). I did look at it, because thats possible right, and I looked damn good.
Dont forget that a PC can handle different resolutions, as for the XBOX that only does PAL/NTSC (It does doesnt it?).

If you would ever buy a new computer, you could play MP1 on it but you couldnt if you have the XBOX version.

I also think the XBOX version is more expensive, but they are both cheap ($5>MP1<$20)

MP1 will be cool, doesnt matter if its on your PC of XBOX.

I played Soldier Of Fortune on my dreamcast, if anyone did that they know its far worse then playing MP2 on a PS2! (But the game is cool)

That RAM is a big ouch and I'd test if it runs on that amount. But the PC version would be my choice - not only because I feel more at home using the mouse and the keyboard, but because of the mods.

Never underestimate the power of user created content.

I played both on the Xbox because I didn't have a decent PC at the time and enjoyed both of them. Didn't notice any real problems.
If you're not spoiled on mouse aiming and aren't interested in the mods (Something I admit I might have enjoyed but, oh well) then go for the Xbox definitely.
