Before the reannouncement I mean.

I knew about it since the beginning, but I wasnt looking forward to it because after the past 4 years it was cancelled for all we knew.

I knew about it, and when it went cancelled for being too ambitious at the time, I felt at sometime when the ambition was able to be satisfied without limitations it'd be back. But the guess of when that would of been would of been crude, I figured it'd of been after Duke Nukem Forever that we'd see it resurface, but hey predictions are always made to be proven wrong. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Knew about it but kind of lost interest

Well I speculated it after all the Lon Matero stuff. But I didn't actually know.

I remember seeing screenshots for Prey long ago, before it was cancelled, but I had no interest in it because it came off as looking like a generic Quake clone to me in screenshots.

I had no interest in it until I saw that E3 video that was posted on these boards by someone a few years ago, with Paul Schuytema showing off all sorts of cool shit in the game.

Yeah, I remember following Prey back in those days...of course, it was only through magazines and the like (and I only recall ever seeing 1 or 2 articles on it). I wasn't particularly interested in it back then, but I don't think I could be more interested in Prey's new form than I am.

Yeah i remember hearing about it back in the day. I was particularly interested in the idea of a self contained world, and that they were attempting to create an interesting story (something games didnt have at the time, and consequently some still dont have this day http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif)

After it stalled I forgot about it, and then became interested when all the april fools thread stuff started up.

Im pretty interested now to say the least! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dopefish.gif

I read about Prey after it was cancelled because I didn't know much, if none, at all about it back then.

I didn't know about it.

I knew about it since the day it was announced. I recently dug out my old PC gamers from around 97-98 and looked at a preview. I wonder if it will still have the topless woman? Im not into video game nudity but I was just wondering.

I remember watching the dnf, prey and max payne trailers back in 98 over and over speculating over how great of a year 99 would be with these games coming out http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

I knew there was an engine called prey, but didn't know there was a game too, and some movies from e3 http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

I learned about it a long time after it was put on hold, and I was impressed with the tech they had back then. At the moment, I'm interested but not sold.

I didn't know about it until recently, but you can bet I'd preorder it now if it were at all possible.

I'd buy anything with a 3DR logo slapped on it.

I wasn't really like, "OMG MUST DEDICATE MY LIFE!" type like I somewhat am for DNF (not as much now). But I thought it was cool so I knew of it but really wasn't jumping out of my seat.

That's probably because someone hasn't started a Prey cult yet. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

It was 1 and a half year back when I was doing a bit of RnD as of who were the first people to have radiosity in games development. After digging a bit I found Prey to be a game thats in that line. Thats when my interest started growing for it when I saw its cool portal thingy. At that very moment I started collecting all that I could find about Prey. But it was a week or somethin back when Prey was re-announced; I was overjoyed with the news. Thanx 3drealms http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I knew about it from the start but I wasn't that interested as I was having a great time playing Duke3D. I still feel the same. But I'll still buy it as it's a 3DR game http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, I remember when it was first announced. I read an article about it in Computer Gaming World.
It was going to feature something 3D Realms called portal technology. The idea was to have
great graphics that still ran fast by having the video card only have to render what could be seen
at the moment from the player's perspective. So if you looked through a doorway, that would
be a portal to another part of the level and you wouldn't have to worry about rendering all the
polygons in that other part of the level, only what could be seen at that moment. Or something
like that.

It was a way to make the 3D world run very efficiently on your video card, so it could look
great, but still run smooth. Perhaps the DOOM III engine already has something like portals built
into it?

The game was supposed to feature an american indian as the lead character and have an
in-depth story. I think the character's name was Talon, if I remember right.

I was disappointed when it was assumed to have been canceled. I'm glad to see it's still
being made and will be using the ultra advanced DOOM III engine! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Exactly what happened to me... Seen it, thought.. wow, quake again.. ah, it's put on pause...

And now, several years later, reannounced and kev links that damned IMhz video(damn you kev...), and now I want the old one... forget the D3 version.

I knew that Prey was in the works for a long time and that 3D Realms had hired a few people to try to get the engine working (Paul Schuytema, Corrine Yu). I assumed they weren't successful and that Prey had dead-ended at that point. I'm glad it was revived. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

From the poll:

Didn't know about it then, and I don't care now

If someone truly believed this, what would they be doing

a) reading this forum

b) voting in the poll

Judging from all the naysayers who said the game looks like a Doom 3 mod, I'd say there are some lurking around http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I knew about it back then, and looked forward to it. Not as much right now. I guess I just dont know what HH is capable of.

Didnt really expect much from Remedys Max Payne either - but was blown away when I played it.

There should have been an option "Knew about the rumour, didn't believe it, but care a whole lot now!"

That would be me.
