Now just to see if it plays like they describe. I'm guessing not, but perhaps I'll be surprised.

i'll wait for the demo....
Looks like a great game, kind of like STALKER. Can't wait to play it http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It sounds a hell of a lot like STALKER! I find STALKER's post-apocalyptic setting more appealing, but Boiling Point's gameplay sounds almost identical.

Since Boiling Point is released first, shouldn't we say the opposite? ie. Stalker is like Boiling Point? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It's kinda like saying that Doom is like Quake 2.
I'm looking forward to this. Any game that is a first person shooter with RPG elements is good IMO, and this seems to have the sandbox type of gameplay http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

sandbox gameplay?
and btw, it's not the first released that counts, it's the first announced http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I suppose it depends on your frame of reference. I heard about STALKER years ago and Boiling Point just recently, so from my point of view, STALKER came first even if Boiling Point is the first to be released.

As it was pointed out, this is a sandbox game. Meaning your enjoyment of it depends on how much you like filling in the holes with your imagination.
I for one am more interested in Stalker because of the sci-fi elements, but we'll see how Boiling Point turns out.

the only thing this game has in common with stalker is a massive environment, no loading between "levels" and open-ended gameplay. i'm sure this game will be fun but no match for stalker http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm actualy really looking forward to this game. The story seems okay, but the scope of the environmetns seems impressive.
Hopefully there'll be a demo... I can talk a coworker into donwloading it for me.
I've got to get a better internet connection before the single player demo of Serious Sam 2 or F.E.A.R. come out. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The rumbling I hear at their message board is no demo, as it would be difficult to split up and restrict a portion of the huge world. Anyway, I think it looks cool on some levels, but is shaky on others. I think I will wait for others to take the plunge and report back before I decide to buy this one. Certainly wouldn't buy it for the story, which looks rather retarded and (I'm assuming) badly translated from Ukrainian.
The open ended stuff is where I think most people's interest lies for this game. I just hope there is a good assortment of stuff to do while wandering the country, as I doubt the main missions will hold my interest.

I'm with Ruger. The game sounds interesting, but I'll wait for some player opinions before making any purchasing decisions.

This game will feature a built-in travel system http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Now that sounds very interesting!

I like the vehicles...seeing through 1st person while driving is always prefered to me rather than 3rd person....it just adds more to the experience when you feel every bump rather than just watch from afar. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif As you can see I'm one of the few who liked hl2's vehicle trips.
The characters aren't made too well...but everything else looks amazing.
