Use kextract. It comes with duke3d and is installed by default. Run it with no parameters in the command prompt to get help on how to use it.
I was woundering too if there was a xtracting program for grp files.
I used to use Kextract but with Win XP it doesn't work in any way.
So is there a windows version which can also add files to a grp like Kgroup as well?

What are you smoking, man? It works fine and always has. It's a simple command line utility.. there's really no way for it NOT to work.

Your probably just double-clicking on it and expecting results. Instead do this:
1) Click Start
2) Run
3) Type: "cmd"
4) Then navigate to your duke3d directory (eg: cd\duke3d )
5) Kextract
It will give you the proper instructions on what to type to get certain files out of the grp.

Or alternately if you're really desperate you could use the GRP Manager I wrote years and years ago.

Download and unzip the batch file I made into your Duke3d folder and double click on it. Make sure kextract.exe is also in your Duke3D folder. Click attachment to download
I'm not a big fan of the new windows tools for grp files. The old way is much faster and heck, much easier.

Since it's on a source code site no, there are no binaries. If you want to try it I can probably try dig up a copy of VB and compile it if you want.

I used to use kextract all the time but when Win XP came along every time I use it in the same way I used to it always comes up with the same error
"Is not a renogniseable internal or external command or opperatable program and batch file."

You must be doing something wrong. The batch file in my post above works fine and I'm running windows XP pro. Not one problem. Not one.
Just tried your GRP and it does work.

Glad to help. My guess is that you wrote your batch file incorrectly.
I never made a batch file http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

Well i guess i'll have to spell it out. The program file kextract.exe on the Duke3d CD that a couple post earlier refered to without any explanation on how to use it was explained in my post.
From the command prompt in Windows XP, type kextract duke3d.grp *.dat (or.map, .art) to extract what ever you want out of the GRP file. It's not hard at all.

This is true - Wombat's rather bad at changing Duke 3D files - it totally sucks at it, in fact. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
