Before you read this, please be aware that Mac vs. PC discussions are not the point of this thread. If you want to discuss the Mac port of Max Payne - fine. Do not start discussions the merits of "Mac Vs. Pc", because that always ends up in flames and insults - which isn't wanted here. That said...

We've gotten several requests for information about this issue, and we finally have some news to report. Max Payne will be ported to the Macintosh computer platform. The company that will be doing the port work is Westlake Interactive. There was a news story a couple of days ago (http://www.imgmagazine.com/news/story.php?ArticleID=4376) that covered this - here's some details from it.

Westlake is pleased to announce that our good friends at MacSoft and Take Two Interactive have chosen us to help bring Max Payne to the Macintosh. Combining photo-digitized textures, radiosity lighting, hardware T&L, and the butt-kicking feature of Bullet-Time gameplay, Max Payne will be a tour-de-force of Macintosh gaming.

There is no information regarding a release date at this time - once we have some more information on that, we will bring it to you. In other port news, the Xbox & PS2 versions of Max Payne are scheduled to street at the end of this week. If you wish to pre-order either the Xbox (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005RCQ5/73407921) or PS2 (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005OLX1/73407921) versions of Max Payne, you can do so through Amazon.com right now!

That's excellent, Joe! I'm all for across-the-platforms titles. But then I'm democratic anyhow. I can't wait to tell a Mac friend about this, as he was weak in the knees when he found out that Alice was ported to the Mac.

As a mac user I can say two things
1) This isn't really news, per say. Westlake has been working on 'Project Morphine' for quite a while, and Westlake has this thing with their unannounced titles, they really like to give it a name that you can find out what it is with a bit of thought. Right now they're working on Project Muse, which I have no idea what it is. But Morphine was a cinch to figure out.
2) Kick ass.

When I read the title I thought it would be about Max Payne figurines being included with Happy Meals.

Have to say I thought it was something to do with a Scottish version of MP!!

For all our American cousins that don't know, Scotland is a small county at the top of England.

Oops did I say county? Surely I meant country?! images/icons/tongue.gif images/icons/tongue.gif

Apparently the Mac version is now out, went gold on 16th June. Even though it don't mention it anywhere on the MP or 3DR sites.

There does not seem to be a demo but there are the required system specs here (http://www.wizworks.com/macsoft/?page=products/maxpayne_mac_action)
