View Full Version : Firefox opens a ZIP instead of downloading it.
How can I get Firefox to not try to open a zip file as a website? I just want it to prompt me to save it somewhere and act like a normal download.
Same with movie files as well.

Here you go:
Click tools ---> options ---> downloads.
You'll get this screen:
Click change action

The MozillaZine Forum suggests using the Mime Type Editor 0.2 (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=179&hl=mime+type) extension. This allows you to configure how all MIME types are handled within Firefox.
The File Types section in the Downloads preferences is blank for me too on 1.0.4.
Thanks! That did the trick.

It should be until you specifically say "Always do the following" when clicking on a piece of media/file type.
