will prey have autosaves?
I know it will already have deathwalking, but that's not enough http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
what if the game crashes? or our town is without electricity for 15 minutes due street workings all of a sudden? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
what if I'm really stuck?
I always feel safe when there is a good autosave system like in far cry, half-life 2, ...
when there is no, or a bad, autosave system, I always feel tempted to save after every enemy like in doom 3, return to castle wolfenstein, duke 3D, shadow warrior, and pharaoh's tomb

Personally I allways save at the beginning of the level, just in case even if there is an autosave function or not. Just became a habbit over the years. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Probably.

I think autosaves, if not hidden from the player, could reduce immersion and/or destroy suspense. If you notice it, you might think that a difficult, or scary moment is ahead.

I think Prey will have autosaves but not to the extent Half-Life had. And particularly due to this death walking stuff it will not be required, except for instances of the game crashing or power outages.

More importantly, autosave should NOT make you computer stop for a second while the game saves, it should be completely free of hampering the game. and you should not even know it happens unless there is a message printed on the screen. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you've got a fast computer with a quiet hard drive it shouldn't be a problem.

no, if autosaves are frequent, like HL & HL2 & Far Cry, you will never think OMG DIFFICULT MOMENT NOW when your game pauses a little second.

90% of the time in hl2, I quicksave just before an autosave by accident http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif
