View Full Version : Something happened to my Firefox

I just noticed tonite that all my bookmarks in Firefox are gone and the theme is back to the original. It almost looks like Firefox was uninstalled and reinstalled. I asked my sister what happened since she was the last to use the computer and she said the only thing that happened was the computer rebooted itself on its own 3 different times. I don't know how that could have affected Firefox in this way. I checked the Themes manager and everything is still there, but all the settings have reverted to a time when Firefox was first installed. Unfortunately I don't make weekly backups of my bookmarks...now I'm starting to wish I had since my list is quite extensive. Any possibility of getting these bookmarks back?

Your profile might have been corrupted. I'd probably suggest deleting that messed up old one and starting anew one.

I found where Mozilla stores profile info, including the bookmarks file. However it looks like whatever happened, my bookmarks.html file was overwritten with a new one. I was able to come up with a bookmarks backup file that Firefox apparently made. This error is reported on mozilazine's forums and apparently has to do with the PC being shut down incorrectly with firefox open. I myself have never had that problem or the effect so I wouldn't know http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

What a load of crap, I have never shut my computer down incorrectly and all of a sudden my Bookmarks have disappeared. Bastards.....
