Today I had to remove A WHOLE LOT of details from my new map due to that damn 4096 sprite limit!!! That makes me think in not releasing more usermaps images/icons/mad.gif images/icons/mad.gif images/icons/mad.gif Is there any way to make something with the sector, wall and sprite limits? EDuke? Please do something with that... images/icons/frown.gif

Alejandro.

Eduke has other limit I think yes.. since chaning it isn't too hard (well I heard it wasn't images/icons/smile.gif ) I think Matt has defenitely changed it.

Read this, well just the second post (http://forums.3drealms.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=5&t=001421&p=)

Also there was a good threat with Holly (Veldric), (can’t find it) explaining why extending the sprite limits too much can eat the resources of any computer real fast.

BTW details in maps; looking at the original Duke maps, they are incredible detailed, and feel large. They are small only when analyzed in Build, comparing what the limits are and what was used.

Limits are there for a reason. You cannot just make a level with an infinite amount of anything in it. There's such a thing as memory, and graphic contstraints.

It's not an endless thing. The quality and beauty of level design comes in making something that looks, feels, and plays cool given the restraints of the engine you're creating in.

The sprite limit is 8192, not 4096<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">No, it's 4096, the wall limit is 8192... (or maybe there are 8192 sprites in EDuke?)

If you get 'too many sprites spawned' then you're getting too many sprites spawned at one time , which almost certainly means you're providing tripbombs in areas with huge expanses.<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Exactly, I had that kind of problems... an area with some explosions and lots of enemies, I think that the jibs were the problem most of all, anyway I've already fixed it and the map is working fine now...

No, it's 4096, the wall limit is 8192... (or maybe there are 8192 sprites in EDuke?)<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">No, I thought it was more sprites than walls - I haven't really used Build for some time.

he got the sprite limit right, but walls is only 1024.

Currently in Eduke 2.1, it's 16,000.

Sectors=1024, walls=8192 and sprites=4096... but it's good to hear that EDuke won't have these problems images/icons/smile.gif

1) The sprite limit is 8192, not 4096
2) If you get 'too many sprites spawned' then you're getting too many sprites spawned at one time , which almost certainly means you're providing tripbombs in areas with huge expanses.
3) The limit is a Duke3D limit. The build limit is 65535 sectors, walls and sprites.
