The problem is that the installer of the game quits with a note of "incompatible operating system" and I'm quite pissed off that I can't play this dumb game anymore. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
If anybody knows how I could get it work under W2k, I would be most greatfull.
PS. I know, I know, kinda shitty game but good enough for playing five to fifteen minutes for nothing better to do. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There's a way to enable the "Compatiblity" tab from XP in 2000. Search the MS knowledge base for how to do this.
Then, set the installer to compatibility for Windows 98.

When you have the correct service pack (minimum being 3, if I remember correctly) all you need to is register slayerui.dll using regsvr32.exe. The DLL is located in the AppPatch directory directly underneath the Windows folder, ie WINNT\AppPatch.
Simply run regsvr32 C:\WINNT\AppPatch\slayerui.dll and you should have compatibility mode.

I tried this myself and it didn't work. (I even rebooted)

Did you get the message that "DllRegisterServer in C:\WINNT\AppPatch\slayerui.dll succeeded"? If not, what message did you get? Also, you can't set compatibility mode on executables, only on the shortcut.
It works fine for me - running Windows 2000 professional SP 4 (build 2195).

I got it working! Wohoo! And now I imagine that all of those tiny civialians are the people who created that installer and not-backwards-compatibly problem with W2k (and those who are responsible of the stupid story for this game).
