Looks like Ash is back!

I know i'm biased (an EViL DEAD fanatic) however i've enjoyed all the games (even though some loathe them), so naturally i'll be picking this one up as well http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh and yeah, Bruce Campbell is back to voice Ash http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif

This is proof that there is a God... I'm so damn happy now.

Evil Dead is the greatest trilogy ever made, and Ash is my fav movie persona ever. Can' f*cking wait. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif

I didn't think the graphics in ED:FFOB were exactly top-notch, but yeah, the gameplay was pretty good. Chainsaw impale ftw!

The first game was badly done but the PS2 game was a lot of fun http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I loved the other Evil Dead games, they were great.

This game is gonna kick ass.

Main problem I had with Fistful of Boomstick was a lack of clear objectives.

Interesting. I was a bit thrown back by the prospect of having a midget zombie as a sidekick, but then I realized that in Ash's world something like that just kind of fits.

Yeah, apparently you're supposed to be able to set him on fire and kick him into on-coming enemies http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

heard they were making this a month or two ago. I loved Boomstick, and this will probably be as good. Even though the last one was a cheap game, I had a lot of fun with it.

FFOB was awesome, so this game should be good as well imho. It looks just as sweet. Oh and I want to know how some of you actually liked Hail to the King, because it was pretty damn horrible. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif

The review is up at gamespy.

Evil Dead Regeneration (http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/evil-dead-regeneration/651225p1.html)

It says it's the best Evil Dead game made.

Hope this comes out for the PC, and actually works - I have "Hail to the King" and it's pretty dismal, not just in graphical terms, but also in that you can't play with a joypad (unless you have a very specific non-USB one), and with keys it's impossible!!! http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tinyted.gif (At least it was cheap second-hand!)

Good choice. I read the Gamespot review, this game had so much potential but is extremely buggy.

You kn ow, ever since I read what that hack Mr. Bruce Campbell had to say about Duke, I've never liked him.

Evil Dead: Regeneration can suck my balls!

EDIT: On a second thought, a game is made by many different people. Not just some hack of an actor. So, with a cool head, I'll simply shrug this one off.

Kickass... maybe this could finally be the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness game I've always been wanting to see happen. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The sidekick thing does sound a little iffy, but it could work if they pull it off right. And besides, the rest seems awesome enough that this is a definite must-play. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dave-ros

After the mini-Ashes in Army of Darkness, the midget sidekick somehow seems normal. At least it's not the standard busty gun-toting babe with a bare midriff and low-riding trousers, like every other game http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If it really is cheap (like £10), I may just get it anyway even if there's no demo to try out, figuring what the hell, it's Evil Dead!

Yeah. Some the things he says about Duke are un called for. Such as taking the fact Duke uses his lines pesonally. Stating that 3DRealms needs to get better and more original writers. He even went so far as to say that his game, tachyon, while still a good game and under rated, imo, was going to 'out sell Duke Nukem'...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Lemme get that link:

GOT ONE:

<font color="red"> V: Are you familiar with the game Duke Nukem 3-D? If so, are you aware of the similarities between its lead character and Ash in the way of mentality and catch phrases? Are you flattered by this sort of "borrowing" of your work? </font>

<font color="blue"> BC: What can I say? Maybe they're just cheese-balls who can't conceive of an original idea and feel compelled to rip off Ash. Imitation is indeed a form of flattery, but paying a guy is an even better form. </font>

READ IT HERE (http://verbosity.wiw.org/issue7/bruce.html) I'll find a few more.

If it really is cheap (like £10), I may just get it anyway even if there's no demo to try out, figuring what the hell, it's Evil Dead!

Yes, there is a demo. It came in last month's OPM. I got it for Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, but I know it's featured in there as a playable demo.

Dave-ros
09-17-2005, 01:53 PM
So he's saying they should have paid him for the lines he didn't even write?! Frankly he deserves to be slapped around with his own possessed right hand http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif

And I'm looking on Google, but I can't find a PC demo of the game, just movies... was this demo exclusive to that magazine, or non-PC?

Hudson

Bruce may have overreacted, however he did have every right in the world to be pissed off.

This BC vs. 3DR topic has been done to death, I would rather it stay out of the thread.

Damien_Azreal
09-17-2005, 02:36 PM
I don't care, I love Duke Nukem 3D (and I'm sure I'll love DNF) and I love Bruce and Evil Dead.

I can live with both, I'm not gonna base my opinions on if they like each other or not. That's a stupid way to make descisions. IMO.

I'm gonna wait for the PC version to come out, hopefully we'll get a patch to fix some of the issues in the console versions.

Marty
09-17-2005, 08:02 PM
Duke's an intentional rip off of everything badass. so consider it a compliment

Karthik
09-17-2005, 11:49 PM
Please no DN vs BC! Raz, I'd love to say that PC version can be fixed but I'd lying to you. THQ released all the Evil Dead games under the budget label, and I seriously doubt they give a nickel about the bugs in the game. And to rub salt onto the wound Beenox Studios, the team that ported F4movie game, will be doing it. So it'll be keyboard all the way.

Actually Bruce Campbell came up with the legendary lines himself. Those were not written in the original script.

Anyway, that game looks surprisingly cool.. Maybe they finally managed to make a decent Evil Dead game?

Dr. Kill
09-19-2005, 12:02 PM
I don't know, I thought A Fistfull of Boomstick was pretty cool. I just wonder if Evil Dead will ever get a quality $50 game. It's actually fitting that the Evil Dead games (except for Hail to the King, I think) are $20. That's the low budget of the gaming world.

And people percieve lowbudget games mediocre!

Dr. Kill
09-19-2005, 01:41 PM
There are a lot of medicre (or worse: downright shitty) $40-$50 games, too.

Just look at Project Snowblind. It was a rip off of Red Faction 2, another bad game.

Area 51 seemed a bit generic.

The original PS2 version of State of Emergency was bad for a $50 game. It had no voice acting (instead lots of writing), bad load times, and had some really frustrating missions. When SOE was released on XBox (for $20), they actually made it good. They added powerups, took out the bad missions, and the frame rate had to be about 60fps, instead of 25-30 like on ps2.

Stuntman had one of the worst frame rates ever, and the game had no replayability. They should've included Film Director from the Driver series. On top of that the game got too damn hard.

Driver 2 (enough said)

Driv3r was glitch filled, and it didn't know if it was the 70's (which it was supposed to be, that or early 80's), or present day. My one idiot friend thought it was set present day. All of the cars are old, including the cop cars. 70's and what looks like very early 80's cars. The cop uniforms looked too present day, also. Driver 3 had Nokia and Sobe signs, and they had laptop computers. The game was designed very badly, and was very, very mixed up, and glitch filled. They forgot the facts. Nokia, Sobe, and laptops did not exist in the late 70's/early 80's. God damn morons must've designed the game.

GTA San Andreas is another so-so game. All hype, and no style.

Karthik

Karthik
09-28-2005, 03:35 AM
So any news on the PC version?

Roger
09-28-2005, 06:49 AM
I love it, except for the first boss being ridiculously difficult (in part due to the jump key randomly deciding not to respond).

Karthik
09-28-2005, 09:15 AM
Okay, are the bugs from the PS2/Xbox present on the PC as well?

Roger
09-28-2005, 02:24 PM
I don't have a copy of ED:R for XBox or PS2, but I could probably grab one later for the latter (I have access to both systems, but getting it for XBox would be redundant as my brother is the one with the PS2 and I have the XBox).

Karthik
09-29-2005, 11:51 AM
Some people have complained the keys are not responding other than jump. I'm gonna wait till the issue is figured out.
EDIT: It seems the vibration option is causing all this trouble. Just disable it in the option screen.

Karthik
10-19-2005, 10:45 AM
Just got the game today. I'm surprised to see they added mouse support for the game. My only gripe is the game uses a manual aim instead of a reticle!

Marty
10-19-2005, 11:08 AM
i havent played it that much, but its definitly fun... sure its no ground breaker and it has its faults. but if you're an evil dead fan, dont pass on this one

Roger
10-19-2005, 12:35 PM
^^Actually the aim is automatic. The actual aiming button is only useful if you hold it down and switch between your targets. It's doubly difficult if you're going keyboard and mouse, though. My USB gamepad lets me rip right through it. It's a little more difficult than Fistful of Boomstick (which I appreciate).

Karthik
10-20-2005, 01:45 AM
Say does the vibration function work correctly with the USB gamepad?

Roger
10-21-2005, 09:50 AM
I don't have a gamepad with vibration support, so I couldn't tell you if it works right or not.
