I've tried to remodel "Painkiller"-level item with MilkShape 3D
(both Max Payne's), but after exporting, I got an error-message:

Exception in engineInit:Animation index 0, obligatory for projectile
"Enemy_Painkiller" was not defined or shorter than maximum frame length

How do I avoid this?

I'm a newbie and I have other small problem, too. I have imported
Max Payne, Janitor and Annie Finn and re-modeled their faces.
I have remembered to import also skeleton and *.skd but when I
start animating, Max Payne's collar and left shoulder are messed
(see the picture). What I had done wrong?

Any tutorial for remodelling with MilkShape 3D exist?

Thanks.

The only thing I can think of is the vertex assignment is slightly off, which may need to be re-imported as you've removed or changed the position of the verts.

Dont know if LI exporting for MP2 works with Milkshape3d or not. I guess not. But that's just me.

Re-assign all the vertices on the face if you've added or deleted any vertex from it and make sure no vertex is left "not-assigned" to any bone.

About the vertices at the shoulders and collars; that's natural. Milkshape3d doesn't yet support single vertex weighing on multiple bones. Since the official skins are weighed to support that, it gets messed up when imported in Milkshape3d. Once again, re-assign these "abnormal" vertices to the appropriate bones.

The official site of Milkshape has some good one.

Thats true forgot about the mulitiple bone vertex issue. Been a long time since i used milkshape. I did however, when I first started out with MP1 (when I had to use milkshape) overcame this limit using another program to assisgn the verts.

I used a program called 'character fx' I don't know if its still around but it allowed you to import a milkshape file (asci I think was the file type) that contained the skeleton and mesh. From there you could assign verts to multiple bones and export it back into milkshape with the assignments still intact also when you exported. I did this for the first character I ever made for mp1 and it worked absolutely fine. It could well work for MP2 too.

Maybe worth a try?

Yeah. I think I promised you long ago that I'll give that a try and spread the info in the community. Too bad the idea was completely erased from my mind. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif
