View Full Version : Can't open my bookmarks in new tabs anymore

I recently re-formatted my PC, and re-downloaded Firefox 1.0.4

For some reason I can no longer middle click on my bookmarks to open them in a new tab, nor can I right click on them and get any sort of context menu. This is rather annoying, as I tend to look at several of my bookmarks at once, and right now I have to manually open a blank tab to do that.

So, how do I fix this?

Have you tried reinstalling Firefox? I'm sure these are features which are available by default and I cannot find any way to enable/disable them.

Hmmm, just tried that and it didn't fix it. Anyone else got an idea?

Edit- Just noticed the quicktime plugin doesn't work anymore either. I have to watch trailers in IE now. What the hell is going on? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mryuck.gif

Open your browser and enter "about:config" in you address bar

scroll down to browser.tabs.opentabfor.bookmarks and set it to true

Thanks for trying to help. That doesn't seem to do anything either though. It's the strangest thing. I can middle click to open things in tabs on any site, I can middle click things in my history, but not in my bookmarks. The whole right click context menu is fried for that, and opens a tiny spot of grey, which I think shows it's trying to get the context menu but it can't.

I can access the right click menu from the bookmarks manager, but that's not really a substitute. I'm wondering what the hell is wrong with my computer, or barring that, where I can get an install of Firefox that will work the way it used to.

For that matter, can anyone tell me how to completely uninstall Firefox so I'll be able to do a clean install? Every time I do it, I still have all my bookmarks and preferences, even after I deleted the Firefox folder in program files.

You'll have to delete the profile folder located in
c:\documents and settings\<your_account_name>\application data\mozilla

replacing <your_account_name> with just that.
Note that Application Data is a hidden folder.

Thanks WillisDM, that fixed it. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wonder why my first install got corrupted?
