Not Starting Game

Hi, I have windows xp home, sp2, up-to-date video drivers and the 1.05 patch for max payne and it does not load for me =( It didnt load when I had the off cd version either. Oh yes and im running it in 2000 compatibility mode too...

Which video card do you have? I was using an ATI 9800Pro and was having problems. However, it works now and I know why: I was using the refresh fix 0.9.9.7 freeware app http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif. While it fixed the refresh problem, it killed most of my older games.

How far are you getting?
Do you see the launch screen/splash screen?
Do you see the starting video?

I get absolutely nowhere. I click max payne and it blinks and it just sits there, no spash no nothin..my video card is a ATI Radeon IGP 345M. Im using a laptop.
