Today I started working on yet another map: Church of Felicity.
So..does it look good yet? (I just worked a few hours on it, ie; this is a base)

BTW I posted it here. Add your ideas/suggestions.

Nice, but probably it needs a bit more shading in the walls (too bad that I don't have SW full version to enjoy it when it's done images/icons/smile.gif )

Shading always comes last in my maps. Thats when all objects/sectors are done I have a better view
off where to shade.

It's true that shading adds to the level, but people have a tendence to shade to dark or even make thier entire level to dark.
Hang realizem i hate it when you have to squint to play a game and wind up with eye strain. I know there are wise asses out there that will say.......well just turn up the brightness. Well some maps to play comfortably, you have to crank up the brightness so much that the colors no longer look proper. graemlins/hhg.gif

I agree.
Shading isnt (in my opinion at least) the most important part of a good map.

On the graphical aspect, YES.

You know what I mean Kev.
Also, there are millions of churches around the world and they all look different, a lot churches have 'rubble' as walls (not just rubble but rubble
which is worked on).
Oh and I spent just a few hours on this map
for the 'base' (like I said), gimme a break images/icons/grin.gif

Diaz is right. Believe me.. shading ARE very important. A map could easily get 90% with great shadings and just 60% without any shadings.. if ya know what I mean. They are very very important.. especially for Duke images/icons/smile.gif

I still can't see it. Maybe because I'm on my Macintrash.
I've studied some Architecture, and believe me, at least in Europe, churches don't look like that at all! But oh, well, the map doesn't look bad, so if you don't really want it to be realistic, it's not a problemo...

I agree with Kef. Map with poor shadows can't reach high score. It's part of the design and development which every talented mapper uses.
Anyways I haven't touched my Shadow Warrior since 98.

Give the man a break...
I'm sure MANY of builders don't research their stuff. I can't give you an example straight off the bat, but I know they're out there.
But that does look like a good map, man. Be sure to post more images soon.

the planetduke and the duketournament URLs
are together and work like one big, wrong URL, Mikko
You should separate them correctly (with [ENTER], I guess...
