Hi
I’m having problems with sliding doors,
I build the door and I pull the vertexes into the middle, create the two triangles and give them a lotag of 9 but most times the doors lines don’t go red like they should do they stay white. When playing the level I have to “push” the door several times before it will open. How do I stop this and what am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any help you can give

Lotag 9 are not sliding doors... for help with that kind of constructions I'd recommend you to get the jonah's mapfaq.

Hello
Yes I have jonah's faq V1.9 to be exact, printed out even. (I can't seem to find v2.1 does anyone have it?) A direct quote from the version I have is this:

STEP 3: You are now done constructing the door. Add some nice textures. Now, go into 2D mode. Point the cursor to one of the triangles that you made by sliding vertexes. Doesn't matter which one, top of bottom. Hit the 'T' key and give it a Lotag of 9. At this point, you can use your new door. <font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Maybe I am not being clear, I mean the star trek sliding doors, stupid me images/icons/smile.gif

Does anyone know how to fix the lines not turning red problem...?
Thanks again

Umm Phoenix you problably mean.. you won't be able to walk through a RED lined door. Since it doesn't mind if the wall is red or white. I usually split a few sectors for the door first before I actually make it. If you split it later the line turn white, but what the f*ck does it cares.

I could have sworn, white lines indicate the perimeter (end) of a sector. To this day I could not move beyond it. On the other hand I never have had any difficulty passing through red sectors. Go figgure, maybe Build has changed and I missed it. So my original question stays, I want to know what the red line problem is!

Sorry for not being as clear as i could be on my problem. I will post images to make it more clear.

Now this is what a star trek sliding door is
meant to look like in build:

You can see that all lines for the dorrs have gone red (you still cant walk through them for some reason but that doesn't matter)

Now this is what happens when the dorrs don't want to be built propally

As you can see the lines have not turned red but are still white, this causes problems in the game i try to open the doors but it takes several hits of the space bar to open the door, after which it works fine

so what i want to know is how can i fix this?

Thanks in advance

The latest build FAQ are on my SST Files site ! The file page contains the latest FAQ2.1 with the tutorial map about sliding doors.

Thanks again<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Why is that a problem? If you want a door, it has to be red. You won't be able to go through a "white" door. images/icons/shocked.gif

Ok.......the star trek door is sector lotag 9 and the actual door should be all white , no red lines.

There is a bug in build, to activate a star trek door, you cannot be touching the door, back off a foot or two. And that is not a slidding door, it's an accordean door. (accordean ??)

Hi everyone
thanks for the replies, the problem lay in the fact that the door was not pulled in 100% exactly in the middle and it had nothing to do with the red lines turning white

I guess what I am trying to say is "my bad"

Well thanks anyway

Does that mean the Tutorial I made and mailed to you today helped you or have you found it out yourself?
Btw, since your making a "Star Trek" map.. wouldn't it be better to make "Star Trek Sliding Doors" with lo-tag 25. It takes a little more time to make but I think the result will be better. And when you've used it a couple of times it will be a piece of cake for you. It will cost you like 2 minutes to make a nice sliding door. Trying the types of "speeds" out with the "speed texture" consumpts the most time.
