My website (http://blaster_b4m.tripod.com/main.html) is about 85-90% finished, and I think it's ready to take in visitors.

Not so good (sorry...)
Also the whole thing gets f*cked by these ugly banners... please find another host as soon as you can images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, I know. I got a little problem where it seems to have changed the name of one of the pages. Plus, my isp is being a little a** again, so wait a second.

[EDIT: Yeah, I can't stand those banners, either. I probably will be switching, soon, as the f***ing company plans on shrinking the file size amount for free users, when I can't pay to keep a website up. They're gonna go from 50 MB to 20!!!

I just realized another bug in the site. The wrong part changes when you use a link in the left frame. I'm gonna have to take it down and see if I can fix it up.

You could try prohosting (http://free.prohosting.com). Last I checked they were 50 megs, and their perl support is tolerable. You can get YaBB1 gold to work there for sure. I think they still only have one banner (banner or popup, your choice), but I'm not 100% sure.

The site is coming back up. It should be back by the end of today (according to Standard US Eastern Time). Thanks to Arj at TotalConversions.

Yeah, can't wait for your site.
Btw, I am in the web stuff for ten years and still make mistakes, except one, I will never post a link until some of my friends looked at it first, well call it ego. images/icons/smile.gif

Cool that means my site is good as well images/icons/tongue.gif

Lol. Anyway Roger don't feel assailted by what I said! I just reminded me of what I *stupid* did at that time. Well lemme explain it now, the CGI-BIN is there to put and install your CGI scripts in. With CGI you can do all sorts of things, like making Messageboards and Search Engines. I think you'll get the point images/icons/smile.gif
Just put your site in the "standard" folder, you don't need to put it in an other folder, really.
But of course, if you want one, you can easily create your own folder like: roger, or whatever images/icons/smile.gif

It's still f*cked. I tested it and it still does it. I put in that target="framename" at the end of the link, but it still does the same. Time to take it down again.

Arj didn't look at it, some other guy did. I think he said his name's Hudson? His AOL / AIM screenname is EVILDEAD4EVER.

Roger, post the html code up and we'll figure out what's wrong.

Roger

I will when I have enough time off schoolwork. Odds are, I won't have any for about two to three days.

The search ting of Tripod says this:

Sorry, but the page or file that you're looking for is not here.

Is my computer the problem or have you moved your site to somewhere els?

Not sure what your question is.
You are working with two frame sets. Eliminate the navigation frameset and make it a frame.
If you know little about frames go here (http://www.pagetutor.com/pagetutor/frames/)

Roger
04-16-2002, 06:00 PM
Actually, I copied and pasted the frame stuff from another site. (Shh!!!) The link you gave me doesn't have too much info, does it? I don't like websites like that.

Roger

I've trashed Netscape Composer and I got 1st Page 2000.

Usurper

1st Page 2k is pretty good. Hope that works. I see you have a "target" tag in the left column frame tag. As far as I know, that's not a valid frame attribute. If it's meant for the links, it should go inside the link tags themselves.

Ya... see:
"<a href="http://www.netzone.ca.tc/theme.html" target="TYPE THE NAME OF YOUR TARGET HERE (THE LEFT FRAME NAME)">YOUR TEXT HERE OR A PICTURE HERE</a>

By "too much info" means that it says so much stuff about a primitive that one forgets what the actual function and use of that primitive is.

YAY!!! THANK YOU MISEL!!! TIS FIXED!!! OFF I GO TO UPDATE!!!

Roger
04-20-2002, 11:42 AM
OK, I've not only fixed the frame prob, but I've also added music to it.

FYI: It's Metallica Don't Tread On Me.

alejandro
04-20-2002, 01:22 PM
Website music sux images/icons/smile.gif
Anyway everyone can stop it just using the Stop button, or it's better if you add a Media Player embed.

Roger
04-20-2002, 04:37 PM
What are you? Anti-Metallica?

alejandro
04-20-2002, 04:58 PM
Anti Metallica??? NO! please, Metallica is my favorite band of all time! but what I say is that webpage background songs are annoying at least for me, take it just as a suggestion... It's better if when I want to hear music (Metallica in this case images/icons/smile.gif ) I could load any CD or MP3...

Roger
04-20-2002, 05:26 PM
What bout those who don't have access to such?

alejandro
04-20-2002, 05:35 PM
huh? so the people will enter to your site only to hear the background midi... lol

anyway I think that more people have access to CDs than Internet images/icons/smile.gif

Roger
04-20-2002, 06:07 PM
If they're smart enough, they'll open up the site in notepad and say, "Hey, look! I wanted to download this midi file, and now I can do so!"

I might even make a link to the file for download if you push me far enough.

alejandro
04-20-2002, 06:23 PM
Yes but if they are smart enough to know about the HTML source thingey, they'll be smart enough to open Kazaa and download an MP3 images/icons/smile.gif or search for MIDI websites at least.

Anyway was just an opinion, let's not fight about it

Roger

Just been feeling kinda aggressive today. Probably because, after years of being resistant to it, I'm starting to feel alone.

it's like W3C only better. You see what I mean, your site needs work.

Sorry, I can't help in your TC, all the best though images/icons/wink.gif

W3C? WTF?

Thanks. My mod has been under development for two years, but nobody really noticed. Apparently Arjan either hasn't remembered to host it or he's just like the rest who don't give a f***. I'm startin to get irked by this.

1. Is the upload time fast? Y/N

2. Is Shadowlink's payment based on time spent online per month or just that amount for the month? Y/N

3. What states have Shadowlink's service?

4. Is credit card required? Y/N

The main thing that attracts me to it is that there are no banners if you get that Internet service, and Earthlink's price is a bit more than $20 a month, regardless of time spent online.
