yeah, lemme start out by saying i started using Duke3d and build on Win95, it was slightly slow when it came to the action parts but it worked great. Worked even better on 98. I started making maps/messing around with Build with WinME.

But then i got WinXP and i just now found out how to get Duke3d working OK. But nomatter what i do Build will never work. I can get the progs i need and it opens to the "press Y" screen, i press Y. Then it gives me a distorted screen and when i press the KPad Enter, nothing happens. I have to press ESC and Y to get out.

Does anybody have any advice or has this happend to anybody before and they got out of it? If so help me please.

Ya, I have the same problem. I finally got Duke3D to run and Build loads fine as well. But the keyboard isn't working right. No arrows and no keypad enter.

I want build back! I like fooling around with it sometimes cause it's so simple.... and quick.

Anyone know a fix?

Ken said that this was because of his IRQ handling routine.

He posted a modification to the source code.

I have this implmented in EDuke 2.1 (when it comes out).

I wish there was a program for the Build engine games (Shadow Warrior, Duke 3d and Blood) that allowed us to play them in current OS' (like 2000 and XP) with sound and improved mouse look (where its not just a toggle, but automatically on) ... sort of like glDoom or DoomLegacy. I been itching to play all three games recently and I'm very close to spending some cash just to build an old PC to play them. images/icons/frown.gif

I dont understand, it seems that Ken doesnt want anything to do with games anymore, but then he still updates his very very old engine.

NO. Ken doesn't want to spend a lot of time on Build - he's working on a voxel engine (look through the site more carefully). These updates are piffling and incredibly minor and reported by other people - it's not like he's had to go and research these problems. He's simply making these minor updates when necessary.
