I bought Doom 3 for a couple mods. This one looks really awesome, but it doesn't seem to work... When I go into the mods section from the Doom 3 menu, I click on the Doom 2 mod and it doesn't work. Anyone else have this mod, and if so did/do you have this trouble?

Try Classic Doom for Doom 3. Doom 2 for Doom 3, it's not the best build of Doom 2.

Yeah, Classic Doom for D3 kicks ass. They've done some great work with that mod. The chaingun model kicks ass, can't wait for them to get the entire first episode finished.

If I see anyone from the team online I'll let 'em know you can't get it working. I did most of the site (except those hacked together section headers) so we still talk.

From a member of the team:

"his problem is that old version doesn't have a different menu, he'd have to type the command "map entryway" at the console. The new version which will be released monday will have a functional menu."

I'll have to check out the new release Monday. Seems like a good idea, and a good start. Just needs a little work.

But after playing Classic Doom3... it kicks D2 for D3's ass. Those guys have done a great jod with the level design and gameplay. The chaingun model kicks ass. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Hopefully someday we'll have both these mods 100% complete. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/love.gif

Didn't you find the texture use a bit lacking? And the maps a big huge-erer than the original ones? I wonder if they fixed it. I can't try it now but I still don't think they can get it done how it should be if the maps are the same as in my version.

There are definitely flaws... The textures aren't nearly as good as Classic Doom's, but I find Doom 2 a very fun game, good graphics or not.

On my brother's computer. My GeForce 2 does run it. RoE actually ran better than Doom 3 for some reason. :/ Same exe. I don't get it.

Yeah, I'd like to see a "Knee Deep in the Dead" remake for Doom 3 myself, it's probably just as good doing if not better than Doom 2. At least with Knee Deep in the Dead, you can even make that even more realistic looking than the original, ya know? Have the first episode look like it was supposed to look, in a 21st Century sense (hence that's when Doom was supposed to take place, 21st Century Mars).

There is a remake of Episode 1 for Doom 3. It's not finished yet, but they got about 7 of the 9 levels from episode one finished.

Very cool, way better than D2 for D3. I'll look for a link for ya.

Should sound great. Sort of off topic, I believe that replacing one of the Duke 3D episodes with a Doom 1 Knee Deep in the Dead remake would be just as good if not better, then again, that was probably done a long, long time ago. Or for Shadow Warrior, that could've been done a long time ago, too.

As far as Doom 3 goes, moving back on topic, I hope that episode makes use of the same or better variety than the old episode. On top of that, please, PLEASE use a better variety of monsters than Doom 3 used originally. Too many of one monster in a map just plain sucked, I don't think that's thinking back to the original DOOM series one bit. I'll look forward to playing that DOOM 1 remake when that time comes, which I guess would be before Halloween, is that the true release date for that remake?
