Does anyone know how to use this to open the original Duke 3D maps? Every time I try to open KEXTRACT, a window pops up for about a second and then shuts down. Help!

Are you using Windows? I'll assume you are...

Go into MS-DOS Prompt by going to Start > Programs > MS DOS Prompt. (If it's not there, go to Start > Run and type "command.exe")

Go to your Duke directory by typing "cd c:\duke3d" or whatever the folder name is and press enter.

Then type "kextract duke3d.grp *.map" and press enter.

Now all of the original maps are extracted to your duke3d directory.

OR, alternately, without using KEXTRACT, at the command prompt, just type "build e1l1" or whatever the map is that you want to view.

Or create a shortcut to KEXTRACT and add 'duke3d.grp *.map' onto the end of the Target feild.

Here's an idea: Download Group File Studio from my old download page (http://drpblaster.ttnetwk.com/downloads.html). I was fortunate enough to scrounge up this tool before 3D Portal went Gamespy. Long live Jonah Bishop!

I know this might be self serving, but those files in question were and still are available for, originally SST, map makers; and it works for all ISP graemlins/hhg.gif

Either the server went slow/down right when you clicked the button or there were too many people downloading it at once.

Your page at
http://www.ttnetwk.com/files/downloader.cgi?/Hosted/drpblaster/gfs31.zip

does not do a thing, except open a page which says

'You must specify a function for the script to perform.'

So I repeat, you can to go to my site at SST Files, it may be simple, but it works images/icons/grin.gif

If it doesn't work, something is wrong with your computer, as it works for me.

It uses IE and/or Netscape. And I even downloaded stuff the other day. But hey if it works on your computer, great!

I just dont want it to go down, because it is like the most complete duke3d archive I ever saw, and it would be a shame to lose it.
