Would anybody like a map to txt and txt to map converter?
I don't know if it'd be usefull, but if anybody could find use of one, I could create it for you.

What's the purpose on having an *.exe that converts a text file into a Duke 3d Map images/icons/confused.gif Explain me, either I misunderstood or this is a stupid idea images/icons/smile.gif

Would be cool if you can use the same text format to later export to other games (like unreal, hl, etc)

That could very well be useful, Manson. Afterall, look at websites. They're based entirely on text and they have all that stuff that makes a site good.

Well, it would make it possible to play all Build Based maps on all Build based games,,, (without having trouple with sizes of the characters,,,)
2nd, it makes it a whole lot easier to program sprites which alters the maps. Like room_over_room, sector based cars, turrets etc.
3rd, if anybody out there wants to do map editors, or true 3D versions of Build games, but just don't wanner waste their time studying the older formats,,,

Thats a smart Idea, it may seem stupid at first (no offence) but in the long run its a great Idea.
If you can make it possible in the future to send Duke3D maps to DNF map format or something like that yuo could be famous.

Anyone who has used *nix knows that the standard for data exchange on that OS is text and that it has a whole host of powerful textual manipulation tools.
There are far more text manipulation tools than there are Build manipulation tools.
I'd dispute your third point however as that really doesn't matter on Windows systems as programmers generally work in there own packed binary formats rather than text like on *nix and even if it did confuse you pretty much every routine you could need is already open source from the Build code.

Welcome back Cyborg, you've been away sometime haven't you?
Probably true about the third point, I just needed one before I started my little 3D project, so I thought other people might need one too,,,
And I like helping others, that way we get more projects out there, even though they're probably of less quality images/icons/frown.gif
