I was just cleaning up my closet and I found this gem http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Has to be one of my favourite FPS games ever.
Anyone ever played this?
It's still a great game, I expecially like the angel powers http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have it - but it was buggy as hell. I never got to play it right when I bought it.
Even though I *did* finish it - it always was a pain to make it work with my Voodoo3 card. I don't know if it'd work, now.
Would I have been able to play it the way the game was meant to be - it would have been a great game. But the way it was I was more concerned getting all the features to run while not crashing my PC http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
[edit] ... waht I said. Now it won't run because it thinks I don't have DirectX6.1 or later. Meh .... http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
[edit2]
Wooh .... after waiting for ages on fileplanet to download 2 patches (a whopin' 1,2MB in size - total) I can actually play it in all it's glory. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was thinking about this game just a few minutes ago. Thumbing through old magazines. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Gonna see if I can find a demo, looked good.

I played that game, but I got upto some mission where I had to meet another Angel/Agent whatever, and I never could meet him. So I gave up on that game, but I did enjoy the angel powers and weapons.
Edit: There is probably a patch that fixes the bug I experienced.

I'm playing the game again http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif It's surprising how good the game still looks and plays! The levels look ugly at times but the models still look pretty good. And the action is there http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif I always liked the character animation, expecially the way the robots and demons move. Love those small demons that travel in packs http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hmm, I never encountered that bug.. I never had any patches installed and it ran just fine.. Maybe with some glitches in the graphics but that didn't bother much.

Check this out. Some people are making a Requiem TC on the Doom3 engine http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Requiem is right behind Strife in the list of best FPS nobody ever played.

We're not making a commercial Game... for me, i don't think it's "forbidden" to do a "non-commercial amateur remake" of a game with the original name.
Yeah - too bad they don't want to listen. Just like all the other mod theams that think they can re-do an old game before asking for permission.
3DO might have even allowed them to do it but with UbiSoft - never ever.

Wouldn't it be ok if they just changed the name of the TC and the characters? If they just made a TC inspired by the original game..

Buggy game, hard as hell to get working right. The game has an alright plot to it, and the concepts behind it are pretty good; however, the game suffered from a lack of polish, like Pariah. I'd give it a 7/10, personally.

Downloading the 2.0 demo right now, we'll see how this is. Hell I might have to add another game to my list of games to buy.

Yes - but they don't do. Like so many other mod teams they think that theri mod won't belong to the ones being shut down.
But it's not just the name of the game - the character designs and level layouts are copyrighted, too. It's the same with every mod out there: without absolutely clear written permission from the holder of the license the mod can be shut down anytime.
After all they said that it will be a remake.

Oh well... it was a nice try.
The demo won't work because I don't have DX6. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I'll just have to find something else to play.

The full version - patched to V 1.3 - works on XP. Read my first post.
It's just that you will have to look hard to even find this game, anymore. 3DO are no more and the game itself is from 1999.

Yeah, I'm gonna check around. It's got to be somewhere.
EDIT: Found a few copies at amazon.com, so I might go that rought. But I havne't play it... could someonegive some idea about it.

Dificult to describe.
It's a very fast paced action shooter. Mix between Quake2 and a little bit of Blood2. It plays very smoothly - and did I mention it - fast. (It's the only game that gives me motion sickness frome time to time).
It has some religious themes to it but all in all it's rather tough. Malachai (the angel you play) is pretty straight forward in killing foes.
If you like Quake 2 and fast paced action - and don't mind that the games feels a little unpolished here and there. Then you gonne like it.
The only real downsides are that graphics are sometimes really bulky where detail would have been good. Sometimes it gets somewhat frustrating (levels and action in higher difficulties) but you get some really cool weapons and powers like:
A 3-barreled shotgun, a grenade launcher - being able to cast locusts onto foes, make their blood boil and let them explode from the inside or just turn them into salt.
The levels set in hell are really trippy for the time the game was produced.

There are like three patches or something. I have them all if anyone needs them.

Damn, it's just like last time. I run 1.2 patch, it works so far as I can tell, but when I run the Direct3D 1.3 patch, it says
"Patch Error: Neither command line parameter specified is an existing directory"
Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
I figured it out myself, in case anyone is curious. Make sure you run the 1.3 patch from the requiem directory itself. Unlike the 1.2 patch, it can't be run from wherever you downloaded it to. Even then, it didn't work at first, but the second time it took. A bit screwy if you ask me.

Ooooh man, I loved this game. Definitely one the "great FPS no one ever played" games. I specifically just remember, that even though it was a little unpolished and not that great looking, something about the architecture, animation, and sound all gave the game a really good amtosphere and ambience. And huzzah for turning people into salt! Always satisfying. I don't think I have my copy anymore, but I'm definitely gonna try and grab this again somewhere.

No, your opinion is not worth nothing, it's just that it was a minority and it won't influence my amassing of VG gold. I can't speak for everyone else who's viewing this thread, though.

I got a new/sealed copy today for $4.
I ran into the typical problems installing patches on a 64 bit OS.
Plan installing on a XP machine and coping the files to my Vista machine.
But before i go through all that trouble.
Anyone had any luck running this on 64 bit vista in direct 3d mode?
Llama Gibbz

I cant install the direct 3d patch in xp.
Error says "old file wasnt found"
Able to run in software mode on XP though.
Surprisingly i was up and running on vista until it asked for a CD
So i put the CD in, and it appears the CD check software crashes the game at start up.
Wonder what the odds are of getting this run in linux and wine? :D

I'm running this on XP and I have had some problems.
+) Don't run in compatiblity mode
+) Make sure the CD is in when you start the game up or it will crash
+) Go to start a new game immediately, let the game start then go into the option and change your controls/video/etc. doing this in the menu crashes the game
+) You can save your game but loading it though the menu will crash the game, you have to start a new game, then go into the menu and then you'll be able to load your save
I'm not sure if you'll run into the same issues as I have but these are solutions I've found when playing.
