Looking at some non-AGP mainboards for an Athlon 64 939 socket.
I was wondering what people have out there as far as the mainboards go and what chipset you have and if you have any recommendations. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Any mobo from a good maker using nVidia chipset is okay; but if you're tight on budget, the Via chipset works well too.

I was looking at Asus or A-bit most likely.
Thanks for the postings.
Price isn't really an issue. I want to get something that works.

I have had good experiences in stability with Asus boards.
My current board is the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe (nForce4 SLI chipset)

I have a 939 and I use the Abit AV8 3rd-Eye. Works like a charm. http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Cool, thanks. I've been quite impressed with both of those brands. I bought a mainboard from each recently and have had some good luck with them.
What does 3rd-Eye mean? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
It comes with AOL software? http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It came with a guru clock http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dopefish.gif I don't use it though since I'm not that obessed with seeing my temps. If I overclocked I guess it would come in handy.
Btw I realized you are looking for non agp...so I guess the av8 is out http://forums.3drealms.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/redface.gif

The first is just marketing, and the I doubt the second. If you're going to just use it general purpose then the ASUS is fine, but if you do any OCing the DFI in the one, no question. Either way the DFI will be fine, it is the best mobo for A64s after all.

I personally just bought the ECS KN1 Extreme, and it has plenty of nice features ot it. I rekon they're trying to push into the enthusiast market a bit, but with the lack of SLI its not a viable solution for the crazed.
Its pretty good with RAID and SATA II along with the features of the NForce 4 Ultra chipset. Its a good board for the money, but you might opt for the pricier and slightly better MSI K8 Diamond I believe its called.

You do realise that the NForce 4 Ultra supports RAID and SATAII by default?

Id probably go with Asus, not from experience but from what I hear about them.
